Syncing MapmyFitness with Fitbit

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I set this up and it says Fitbit and Mapmyfitness are connected, but it doesn't sync. When I walked this morning I used both apps. Fitbit was off by 1/2 a mile. So how do I track correctly when it isn't syncing. I have to manually add another 1/2 mile on Fitbit? I'm on android phone.

Hi there @Gibbs17, awesome to have you here in the Fitbit Community, welcome aboard! I'm wondering if you were using any special feature, like GPS (MobileRun, Connected GPS)? I saw on your Community profile you have a Charge 2.

If you were just walking with no GPS, note that your distance in your Fitbit account will be determined by multiplying your walking steps by your walking stride length and multiplying your running steps by your running stride length. This will not necessarily match a pre-measured distance like other apps will display or a GPS device will show.

In this case MapMyFitness will grab the distance from your Fitbit account, since MapMyFitness activity doesn't sync to Fitbit. For the same reason is not require to log an additional activity to match the distance displayed in MapMyFitness.

However this would be different if you are using a GPS feature. when you're tracking an activity with GPS, Fitbit calculates your distance using GPS data rather than steps. If you begin moving before you get a GPS signal, the tracker will calculate distance using steps and stride length as described above until a GPS signal is found.

Hope this helps. See you later!
