When will Fitbit provide time series data to external apps? I can see that information on my Steps Tile, so it shouldn't be too difficult. https://support.mapmyfitness.com/hc/en-us/articles/204374964-Duplicating-Data-. I shouldn't have to remove my fitbit while excercising to prevent duplicate data in MapMyFitness.

Thank you for being part of the community @beckysback! I'll be happy to help you with his. If you're having issues with the activities that sync from MPF to your Fitbit account, you can unlink and then re link the accounts.
Hope this helps and good luck

I'm having trouble with the Fitbit data sent to MapMyFitness not being complete as indicated in the link I provided. Unsyncing and resyncing did not help.

Thank you for the update @beckysback! I recommend making sure your tracker is constantly syncing with your account. I'd like to know if your information is being properly synced from your tracker to your Dashboard.
Looking forward to your reply!

Just curious, why not log your activity in MapMyFitness and have that sync over to Fitbit? I track workouts in MapMyFitness and food intake in MyFitnessPal and both sync into Fitbit, so I use Fitbit as a dashboard that accumulates data from 3rd party apps.

I agree. Fitbit is a bit limited in sharing data and it gets really frustrating. That's why I use MapMyFitness... They have a wide range of activities that you can track and you start/stop the activity on you phone. After you stop the activity, it automatically syncs to other applications. All my activity in MapMyFitness gets sync'd to MyFitnessPal, UA Record, GoogleFit and Fitbit automatically, so I can look at my data in whatever app I want.
The only downside is if you have a Charge HR or a Surge with the HR monitor, you can't leverage this when tracking your activity, unless you simultaneously track with both Fitbit and MapMyFitness and then edit the calories burned in the activity on MapMyFitness. The update would then sync to all the other apps. I use a separate chest HR monitor when working out and that calculates calories burned in MapMyFitness.

Originally, the reason I was trying to have it log in Mapmyfitness is I was looking for a newsfeed that would report my friends daily activities. Fitbit is really behind in the social aspect of only having friend's weekly steps on the app. I do log my activity in MMF. It just gets doubled in the MMF dashboard when the fitbit data comes in. When I had a jawbone UP it didn't do that, because they include the time the steps occured in the data for MMF to recognise them as the same activity. Anyway, I've quit looking at MMF dashboard and just use fitbit's as @keything said.
@VivisFitbit I haven't tried syncing full time as the battery life is already short compared to my UP24. And since I've decided to not use the MapmyFitness dashboard, the inaccurate data no longer bothers me. Thanks for suggestion.

Didn't realize that activity was doubled in the MMF dashboard with fitbit data. I actually don't use the MMF dashboard and I use either UA Record or Fitbit to see dashboard information. UA Record has a good social aspect but doesn't track food intake yet, to give the overall picture.

Hi Vivian,
I relate to this post's sentiment, but your answer wasn't exactly pertinent. This is not a syncing issue, it's a time-series data issue. Fitbit does not provide time-series data on steps to MyFitnessPal (or UA Record, which is what I use). The steps sync correctly, and I know Fitbit logs time series data, you just don't send it to 3rd party apps. That's why we end up with duplicate step counts when recording a workout through a non-Fitbit app. If you were to send time-series data rather than just aggregate, then other apps would be able to adjust the step count down based on steps that were taken at the same TIME (hence time series data is needed) as the workout. I'm actually shopping around for a different activity tracker for this reason. I know Withings and Jawbone both accommodate time-series data to 3rd party apps. Do let me/us know if you plan on improving this in the near future and I'm happy to stop looking elsewhere because I do love the Fitbit.
