To Log Activity or Not? (Weight Watchers app AND LoseIt app)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I am a former Weight Watchers Active Link person.  I dumped it because everything was so proprietary, I couldn't really see what I was doing.  I love the FitBit.

I have connected my FitBit to the "LoseIt" app as well as Weight Watchers app.  I am a fairly new user and haven't really poked around much in the app at all.  It syncs fine with both apps--but--yesterday I noticed a spot on my phone to log activity.  so, I put in the 30 minutes I was on the elliptical machine, and then made sure whatever I picked was approximately the number of calories the machine said I burned.  I also think I tried to let it calculate--but got lost.

The minute I did that, I popped over to the weight watchers app, and BAM, there were 13 activity points logged.  anyone that knows weight watchers knows "that.is.not.right"  so I deleted it--and it didn't go away.

When  you log your activity, is it like "double dipping" ??

the second question is:  in Lose it, are you supposed to log your exercise if you're connected to the fitbit?  after "a while" you get the fitbit "bonus" points--but not sure if you're supposed to do that or not.

Anyone have any experience with any of this?

@FaithB1965 Thanks for reaching out. I completely understand what's going on here, however, I cannot confirm why 13 activity point were logged. As you may know, synced Fitbit data will be translated into Activity Points Plus values. Did you contact to Weight Watchers Support to let them know about this situation? Did they suggest something?  I haven't received or seen a similar issue among the Weight Watchers discussions.

Regarding your second question, the change to log your activities is up to you. Logged activities won't sync between both accouns. Once you've the Premium membership, your calories and Aria measurements will sync from Fitbit to LoseIt and your food from LoseIt to Fitbit.

I am also having an issue with fitbit logging a lot of points with Weight Watchers. The points almost seem to be double what they should be.

@nightangel72003 Thanks for commenting about your Weight Watchers extra points. Have you tried to unlink and relink both accounts? If the answer is no, please go to your website Dashboard, click the gear icon on the upper-right corner to go directly to "Settings". Once there, you just need to look for "Applications", select "Revoke Access" and then relink with the app directly. Did you try to contact to Weight Watchers as well? If so, let me know any updates!

I have also had issues with the Weight Watchers AP and FitBit sync.  I cycle to and from work, have a pretty active job and then walk or run when I get home.  I used to give myself 9 AP for that.  When I synced the apps, suddenly I was getting 20 AP.  I heard that WW was having chronic IT issues (when aren't they?)  It took forever to pick up on my WW tracker as well.  According to my leader, they have been aware of the issue over at WW and it now seems to be more reasonable.

While it was nice to see the 20AP earned for my work days, I knew it wasn't realistic. LOL  It's now much more in line to what I would have given myself.  Hopefully they will keep tweaking it.  For now, it seems to be working not too badly.

Just when I thought my problems were over with the WW and fitbit sync, I just finished a run of a bit over 90 minutes, check the WW app and fitbit has disappeared from it. I am going to unlink the apps and then link up again and see if that helps. Logging out of the WW app and back in did nothing.

WW is a GREAT program for FOOD. Maybe they should leave the IT to the experts. LOL I know it's a small thing, but it makes me crazy,

@K9dancer I can imagine. Let me know if the unlink process works well. Commonly unlinking and relinking should fix syncing issues between a third-party app and Fitbit. You may also want to contact to Weight Watchers Support to determine if the issue is on their end. Let me know if I can do something else for you.

The unlink didn't work.  Funny though, it was there this morning when I got up.  Earned 13AP.  I am pretty sure the problem is at there end.  I have contacted them in the past with IT issues and have been less than happy with their responses, so I think I will just wait and see...

I'm having proplems using the fitbit with Weight Watchers also.  It worked the first two days, but gave me 5 points for activity each day (not sure if this is right or not, but I did push myself).  Yesterday, no activity points even though I did the same amount of activity.  I send a help ticket. I'll report back what happens.  I hope the issue is resolved, this is frustrating.

Update: a few other members on WW Answer Central reported that their fitbit stopped syncing, so it's not just mine that isn't syncing.

I'm having the same problems -- I want to track my "intentional" activity on my fitbit but notice I get double activity points on my WW online program.  Will try to unlink then relink and see what happens.  Thanks, everyone for contributing to the conversation.

I, too, am having intermittent problems with the Fitbit interface to the Weight Watchers eTools app.  I read through the blog, and noted that Fitbit frequently refers users with problems to Weight Watchers...  Weight Watchers, other than recommending a disconnect and reconnect, has been totally unhelpful.  The usual response is "You need to contact Fitbit".

Not a satisfactory answer -- you all need to be working together to make this work correctly!  I love Fitbit, and love eTools...  and love the ease of an automatic interface.  It feels like there needs to be more work on refining the (obvious) problems between the apps.

Finally -- is there evidence of medical testing (MRI) interfering with the Fitbit reporting?  My Fitbit dashboard is fine, but after a nuclear stress test (through which I wore my Fitbit, to pick up the steps on the treadmill), my daily WW total was 22 points (totally erroneous!).  I'm wondering if the before and after MRI's to monitor the blood flow/possible blockage change after heart rate increases interfered with the Fitbit transmission to WW eTools????
