Unable to hear anything from Gold's Gym Amp app

I have a brand new Versa 2 and have paired my earbuds, but cannot hear anything when trying to use Gold's Gym Amp app (or anything else).

All I've seen on the web is that I can listen to downloaded music, Spotify, Pandora and Deezer. Am I limited to only hearing audio from these apps?

 

I appreciate any help on this topic.

Spotify on the Versa 2 only controls the spotify music on my phone, so that's a negative.

I don't have a Pandora account yet not have I downloaded any music to my Versa.

I know the headphones work - I've paired them with my phone previously and I am able to listen to Spotify without issue - while controlling it via the Versa 2.
