What if I don't want to wear my fitbit all day?

I bought the Fitbit to replace an old watch/chestband that had broken which I only used to track heart rate and calories burned.  I like the sleep functionality and wear it at night but I don't want to wear it to work and some evenings.  I sync it with My Fitness Pal where I track calorie intake.  My question is when I work out - should I manually input my calories into My Fitness Pal?  If I don't, I sometimes don't get any credit for the workout since I haven't worn the Fitbit all day because it thinks I haven't done anything all day.

I'm not sure there is a good solution for partial wear.

I'm not a partial wearer, but if I were, I would manually enter the workout on MFP.  MFP will also import whatever you actually did do with the fitbit, but it will otherwise estimate your calorie burn based on the activity level you put in your account settings (I put "not very active" and let MFP add the fitbit adjustment, but you might want to use a more active setting that averages movement your fitbit misses when you don't wear it).

Thanks for the advice Baltoscott.  That's what I was thinking.  I just need to make sure that my fitbit doesn't end up double counting those calories but yet will still send any excess steps I make other parts of the day.
