Hi all!
Brand new here as of yesterday and I have been browsing the boards and notice a ton of people use my fitness pal instead of logging your food in fitbit. I wonder why? Is there an advantage? Do they work well together? I have used my fitness pal in the past so I am familiar I just don't understand why you would use multiple apps at once?
Thanks for any input & help!
Happy stepping!
Heather

Hi, new here today...and I already use MyFitnessPal and have read that the food database is better than on FitBit. Have to play with FitBit more to see the difference I guess. Would be easier with one app I would think..

Some people started with MFP and some say the database is better/larger. I started with FB and I find it suits my needs. On the rare occasion that I can't find a certain food, I just google it to get the info. and it works well enough for me. Welcome to FB!

i have been using mfp for a couple months and like it. i received the fitbit as a gift for christmas and will see how this food log compares. it would be convenient to have everything in one location.

I love MFP because it is easy to use and has a large database. I have been using it for a long time now so that is probably another reason. One of my favorite features is that it has a barcode scanner that you can use to scan food items... it makes entering foods even easier. It was one of the reasons that I chose the fitbit flex... because it was compatible with MFP 🙂 Now, I just have to get used to using both!

My understanding is the Fitbit food database is rather US-centric, and many food items common in other countries are not included in it. MyFitnessPal has a wider database, which is why many people prefer to log their food intake with it.

I used the fitbit database for a long time then switched to MyFitnessPal. They do work extremely well together and I really find the barcode scanner as well as the recipes very helpful. I've been doing a lot more cooking at home and it is nice to be able to add in all of the ingredents so I can call them back later. I think the combination of the MyFitnessPal and Fitbit helps my tracking be more accurate and quick.

Like others have mentioned. When I first started with FB the food diary option wasn't really that good so I found MFP. After years of using that site it is just second nature so now I just sync my FB & MFP accounts. It all comes down to personal preference.
