charge HR giving me double/triple calorie counts or not enough in MFP

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I am not having issues where my charge HR is counting my calorie burns in MFP 2-3 times for example. if I do an exercise  and burn 325 calories it will  log it 2-3 times. or If say I talke a walk and burn 100 calories and then workout later and burn 250 it will count the walking 2-3 times. I am also having issues like,If I burn say 100 calories it will give me say 10 calories, then it will give me 5 and then back to 0 and then it will give me 4. whats up with this? I had to un sync my fitbit with mfp for now

Welcome to the forums @Tracey74! I'm also a MyFitnessPal user and I'll be glad to help on this. Smiley Happy

I have seen this situation happen whenever both accounts don't have the same caloric budget to work with; so I recommend to disable Fitbit's Food Plan and add your MFP caloric budget as a main calorie goal.

I'll show you how to do it from my profile information. Smiley Happy

First, you'll need to go to your Food log page and click on the arrows on Food Plan until you see the option "Edit Plan".

After you've done this, click on "Set a new Goal"

2.jpg

Add your starting weight and your desired weight and click next.

3.jpg

Instead of choosing the food plan options provided by Fitbit, click on "Set my own Calorie Target".

4.jpg

Now on MyFitnessPal, click on Goals and (unless you have an specific nutrition goal) click on "View Guided Setup"

5.jpg

Now on your Diet profile, add all the information required.

6.jpg

Now, you will get a Net calorie target for the day. Please bear in mind that mine is low because of my settings, but yours will be different.

Now, go back to your Fitbit Screen and add the Net Calorie target you were given for the day and click on Done.

8.jpg

Now you're set! The food you log in from MFP will automatically edit your Fitbit caloric values for the day and it will reflect on your MFP calorie budget for the day.

A couple things to consider about this:

  1. The accuracy of your Fitbit Log will depend on the accuracy of your MFP food logs.
  2. All exercises and non-step based activities must be logged through Fitbit, otherwise MFP will count them as double.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions Cat Very Happy

I am maintaining my weight for now so it will not let me manually add my
calories in fitbit which is 1810 calories(what mfp gave me)

I am maintaining my weight for right now and fitbit will not let me manually enter the calories mfp gave me for that. my weight of both apps were the same and I was not having that issues with it giving me all those calories(or lack of) until recently

it wouldnt let me change it so I set it to lose 9 lbs and will set mfp accordingly and see if that helps.

ok so update to the changing the weight loss part. fitbit says I have 910 calories left for the day and mfp says 927 and they are both set to 1560 but fitbit now shows 1543. they are not syncing up properly even though they are set up as the same amount of calories

Thank you for your responses @Tracey74! Here's the trick: when you base your food plan on MFP's settings, your In vs Out gauge will be disabled. This is because your caloric information will be displayed on MFP's screen:
