OK, how do you link using windows 8 the dashboard to myfitnesspal - from what I understand that other site is easier and more complete.  Suggestions welcome, I'm new at this!

 

Also I read it would link to my ipod, but I can't find how to do that - let me guess, there's an app for that.

You can connect the MFP account by following the instructions here: https://www.fitbit.com/apps/myfitnesspal

 

 

There is no app for the iPod. That is not a compatible device: https://www.fitbit.com/devices
