re-linking My Fitness Pal over and over

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For the last week, I have had to re-link my Surge to MFP after every meal in order for it to sync.  I would ditch MFP and only use Fitbit for calorie logs, but FitBit currently does not suppor a weight gain program (necessary for me).

This is incredibly redundant and ineffecient, and it is only MFP that I am having this issue with.  My other apps are syncing with no problems.  I have gone in through FitBit settings and reset the link, as well as through MFP, many many times.

Again, I need to continue to use MFP until I am at my healthy weight goal, and that means gaining a few more lbs.  The combination of MFP and my Surge have been incredibly helpful so far in monitoring my calories in vs (actual) calories out, and I really hate losing that functionality.

Please advise!

MFP was having issues yesterday. They seem resolved now, at least for me. How long have you waited for the sync to occur before disconnecting and reconnecting the apps? BTW, MFP syncs with your Fitbit dashboard, not directly with your Surge.

Usually when I disconnect/reconnect MFP with FitBit, the calories already logged show up within a few minutes, if not immediately.  However, if I go to log more in for the day, they will not show up until I repeat the whole song and dance of disonnecting/reconnecting.
As of a few minutes ago, even the disconnect/reconnect ritual is not syncing the two programs anymore.

This is beyond a joke, hopefully MFP will get their act together soon. Unfortunately there is no other app which offers all that MFP does.

Because MFP is admittedly having issues. Mine accounts weren't syncing yesterday morning, but seemed to work ok in the evening.

So I just got the surge and I think I synced it with myfitnesspal. Do I have to enter food twice or should my entries on MFP show up on the fitbit dashboard?
I have been searching and searching for this question and havent found it yet. Obviously Im new 🙂

You should just be able to enter your food into MFP, and it will show up
under "calories in" in your Fitbit dashboard. This will adjust your
"calories left to eat" for the day.

Its a little different with MFP and Fitbit, as Fitbit does a better job of
tracking all day calorie burn rather than just cardio activity input into
MFP. Fitibt also does not have an eating plan for gaining weight, so I've
just been winging it.

Just log food in MFP and Fitbit will sync "meal summaries". You won't see the individual foods synced in Fitbit, but if you're logging in MFP you probably don't care about that. Fitbit will get the calories, protein, carbs, etc. from MFP totaled for each meal.

Hello there @AnnaKBush@tastybrew@loulouthrumbly and @Bayah! Thank you for your updates and for your work on this. Please keep me posted with any update you may have about the way your Fitbit and MFP apps sync.

@Wendoger You only need to enter your information in one side. Once your accounts are linked, they will sync the information automatically. Here a chart that show the way how Fitbit and MFP share your info. In that way you'll choose where to log it.

What syncs?
Fitbit > Steps > MFP
Fitbit > Calories > MFP
Fitbit > Aria measurements > MFP
MFP > Logged food > Fitbit
MFP > Activities > Fitbit

@ErikG To link your accounts you only need to go to your MFP account and look for the option "Works with Fitbit"  and follow the instructions provided.

Hope this helps!
