My firbit versa3 it does not stay connected to my phone and because of this I don't get the notifications or calls only syncs if I do it manually also.

Very disappointed 😥

Hi @Elrega  - this could simply be a phone settings issue.

If it was working try restarting both devices.

Also check the Fitbit App is running in background all the time on the phone, and not being closed by battery optimization.

You can use the SimpleCheckUp app on the watch to verify the state of syncing and connection anytime to give you a better picture of the issue.

Lastly swipe the watch face to the right to get to Quick Settings and make sure that neither Sleep or Do not disturb are enabled because they will stop notifications.

I’m having the same issues. It was perfectly fine before I updated my phone to iOS 15.5. Now my Versa 3 won’t stay connected for long and it constantly tries to connect and drains my versa 3 battery life. The connection symbol on the watch keeps flickering when it’s lost connection. Seems this is an issue with the iOS update.

Hi @Oatcake - have you tried following previous advice?

It sounds like an iOS issue but in the process of updating some options you had before may have been reset.

Eg. Battery optimization may be on now and was not before.

Yes,  checked all the settings and everything appears fine. I’ve removed the watch from my Bluetooth settings and reconnected again. It works okay for a short while then it loses the Bluetooth connection. I’ve loaded the app you suggested and will see what jet says when it happens again. At the moment it’s reporting all is well as I’ve reconnected my versa to the phone manually again.

I took the dog out for a walk, left the phone behind and after getting back the versa3 and phone can't seem to connect once again. On my iPhone, it shows versa3 in the bluetooth connection list as unconnected and it won't connect at all. I have to "forget this device" and manually pair it again. This is what the "simple check up" app is showing...

Also, when I swipe right to show the quick menu, the little phone icon at the top of the screen which shows no connection is rapidly flashing, as in it appears then disappears at a rapid rate. It seems to be hammering my battery life as a result too! 😞

@Oatcake- thanks, definitely showing it is not syncing well or connectible.

You can turn off the flashing battery icon in the watch Settings and that may solve the battery issue.

A lot depends on the OS version, along with settings, as you say.

Try

  • forgetting the Bluetooth Versa entry, [at this point the Versa 3 controls is not relevant]
  • logout of the App and restart both watch and phone
  • Login to the App again
  • go to the home screen on the phone, without closing the App.
  • A sync popup should appear
  • Click on it
  • it should issue pair and link prompts
  • then you can sync.

This may make a new decent connection.

If the problem persists chat with Fitbit via the App, click profile photo, Help & support, Contact Customer support, they may have more up-to-date info for iOS 15.5 issues.

Thanks for that. It's not the battery icon that's flashing rapidly, it's the lost phone connection icon.

The problem seems to be that whenever the versa3 and iPhone lose bluetooth connectivity (ie if the phone goes out of range or else if I turn bluetooth off), whenever it comes back in range (or I turn bluetooth back on) then the connection does not re-establish correctly. I can forget the device on the bluetooth settings on the phone or else I can shut down/restart the versa 3. Not great - could be the iOS update that's caused this so I guess I'll wait for the next iOS fix. 😞

@Oatcake  - the repetitive lost connection icon can be causing battery drain. Try turning off status indicators in the settings.

Perhaps Apple have an idea about the problem as it's their update which seems to have caused the issue?

Just in case others are having this issue - I’ve resolved my problem by going to Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings.

After doing that, my Versa3 and iPhone are playing nicely together again. 😉

I would have shutdown and restarted phone. Which anyway should be done at least once a week

Will still not sync even after I have done all suggestions above. Fitbit MUST roll back their last software update, I am getting peeved off with this issue. Their problem.
