Add Music to Versa 4

I would love for music support to get back to the Versa 4. I could understand Google/Fitbit not allowing 3rd party apps such as Starbucks, because Starbucks doesn't have much to do with fitness.. But music? It's a workout aid, isn't it? Workouts and music go hand in hand!

Everyone listens to music during a workout! It's a horrible flow to have to take out my phone to change music, while I could have just used my watch.

Hi @Wesu - Fitbit have been working to get rid of onboard music off all it's watches. The Versa 4 was even designed with no music support at all

If you want onboard music look at other brands.

I hate to say it, but 3rd party support (of any type), it would appear is only going to be supported by the Pixel Watch line.  They have neutered the API so badly that they can't even get Google Assistant to work on the Versa line now.  I would not hold my breath waiting for this to come.  It simply isn't going to happen.  They are going to drag along the fitbit brand for a few years, but all of the upgrade work is going to the Pixel line.  Oh, sure, they will keep the Charge around and maybe a few others like the Luxe for the fitness band crowd that doesn't want a full watch, and they may keep the Versa and Sense lines around as glorified fitness trackers, but as far as an actual SmartWatch, the Pixel Watch is what they are focusing on and going to try and push people towards.

Yep, it's really bad huh.

It could have been as simple as a backwards, forwards and pause/resume button. If cycling outside, you can't even change your song and you have to stop your bike to change songs, or break traffic laws by taking out your phone.

@Wesu  - the Versa and Sense watches prior to the Sense 2 and Versa 4 have music remote control built-in.

Hi @JayMonster  - As the pixel has such poor battery life it is not in competition with or alternativel to Fitbits. Other brands though have full music features and long battery life and many features now missing on the Versa 4.

Other android smart wearables don't have nearly as good sleep tracking sensors as Fitbit though. Something to consider.

And yes, I know the versa 3 does have music built-in. It's just super dumb that the newer device doesn't. It should feel like an upgrade, but instead it feels like a downgrade.

Thanks, @Wesu - the Sense 2 and Versa 4 should have been more aptly called Lite versions, due to them dropping existing features, to avoid such confusion.

I am pleased with the sleep sensor and HR metrics on my Garmin Venu 2 Plus including 10 day battery life and it's nice app, with dark mode and extra features.

In a comparative research by the Quantified Scientist on youtube, the Venu 2 actually scored rather poorly on sleep stage tracking performance.

The more to the top right the more accurate, products marked in green have been compared against Zmax EEG, products marked in blue have been compared against somnography, the rest are compared against the Dreem 2 EEG:
