App notifications and Find my phone not working on ios 17 (switched from Android)

I recently switched from an Android where my fitbit worked perfectly to an iPhone 15 Pro and have the latest IOS. My Fitbit Versa 4 is also up to date.

I loaded the fitbit app onto the iphone and disconnected my fitbit from the Android phone and connected it to ios via the app.

However it seems "Find My Phone" only works when the Fitbit app is open on ios, when the app is closed it does nothing but will start chiming when I open the app. Further when I go to notifications to enable third party app notifcations (ie. whatsapp, gmail) only Google Photos is listed as an option.

I've ensured Background App Refresh is enabled and Allow notifications are enabled in the settings for the Fitbit app and share system notifications is enabled under bluetooth. Everything is up to date software and firmware wise.

Is Fitbit really this crippled on iPhone or something going awry here?

Welcome back to the forums @JohnnyS99.

Thank you for sharing the inquiry regarding notifications. Sad to know that you are experiencing this difficulty.

I'd suggest the following steps:

  1. Forget your Versa 4 from the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Check if the Fitbit app is updated on your iPhone.
  3. Then, force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app, tap on the up left corner (device icon) > Set Up a Device.
  5. Select your Versa 4, tap Replace Device and follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. Once the process is completed, set up the notifications one more time.
