Battery on versa 4 draining too quickly.

I am writing to express my extreme frustration with my Fitbit Versa 4. I purchased this device less than three years ago, yet for over a month now, the battery performance has been completely unacceptable.

Despite an overnight charge to 100%, the battery life is incredibly inconsistent. On a 'good' day, it barely lasts 24 hours. More often, it drains completely within just a couple of hours of being taken off the charger.
It is incredibly annoying to have a relatively new device that claims multi-day battery life but fails to even make it through a morning. This persistent issue has made the watch unreliable for fitness and sleep tracking. I expected much better longevity and quality from a Fitbit product and would like to know what steps can be taken to resolve this.

Hi @Decay_sin and welcome to the Fitbit Community!

I am sorry to hear that your Versa 4 battery is not lasting as long as expected. As a very first step here is an article (Extend your Fitbit device's battery life) you can definitely take a look at to see if there are any tips to help you, as there are some features that can significantly effect your battery life.

Hi @Decay_sin - in addition to the help given, if it doesn't help, there can be two issues.

If the watch got wet it can be damaged inside, often accompanied by getting hot when charging and if so stop using it, it is dangerous.

There is a firmware update that can switch off the watch when not on charge, so check actual charge level when placing on charge, to see if this is the issue.

For a watch to drain very quickly the battery must be providing that energy so in principle it can get warm or even hot when wearing in normal use.

You can try a standby test. Which tests best drain and syncing issurs.

Charge the watch to say only about 75% and sync.

Then turn off the phone's Bluetooth, restart the watch and put it in Sleep mode (pull down on the watch display), place the watch face down with the straps out of the way somewhere it cannot detect any movement.

After several hours check how much battery is lost, should be about 1% per hour if the watch is fine, and if so it may be a phone/ syncing causing excessive watch drain.
