Can answer calls on Versa 4, but I can't hear anything

Hi,

Does anyone else have issues with their Versa 4 microphone for on watch calls? I can barely hear the person talking to me but when Alexia talks on the watch it’s loud and clear.

Thanks

Hi there, @RichardSimmo. Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums and sharing the details about the inconvenience with your Versa 4. @Guy_ Thank you for helping out!

If you haven't done so yet, please check the following requirements:

If you continue having issues, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. On the phone, turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  2. Restart the Fitbit device once gain. For instructions, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  3. Remove Versa 4 Controls from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone.
  4. Set up on-wrist calls again. For instructions, see How do I set up on-wrist calls on my Fitbit device?

Note that Versa 4 Controls might be listed as “Not Connected” in the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone. When you receive a phone call, the controls automatically reconnect. This feature requires more frequent charging.

On a side note, please note that if you're trying to connect any headphones while using on-wrist calls, specially Airpods, at this time Fitbit smartwatches can't control the volume on Apple Airpods.

Hi,

Thanks for this information, I have tried this but the microphone is still very quiet for on watch calls. I think this is an issue with the versa 4 which is very disappointing.

I am thinking of taking my back to swap it for a Fit Bit sense. Does the sense 1 have the same issues or is it equipped with a better microphone?

Thanks

Hi Guy,

Yes volume is on max.

Alexia is so much louder than hearing somebody talking to me on an on wrist call.

Thanks

@RichardSimmo- did you check that the volume for calls doesn't get reset to default for each call which may not be the case for Alexa.

Hi Guy,

Yes checked the volume on calls and it’s always on max but it’s just not that loud unfortunately.

Do you have the same issue on your versa 4?

@RichardSimmo- it's possible as the watch is smaller than the previous model and the battery smaller, it does not have the normal volume and that Alexa has a builtin booster to compensate.

I don't use the Versa 4 for calls, or much really as HR is not accurate. Did use the Sense though which was fine for calls until they replaced it with a Sense without a microphone, so got a Garmin Venu 2 plus which does everything very well and gets better battery life. Everything on the Garmin and in the app works great including call volume. It has nearly everything people ask for in the feature suggestions, that Fitbit never implemented.
