Can answer calls on Versa 4, but I can't hear anything

When answering a call on my watch I need to keep the it near my ear to hear the caller.  The  other issue is that the voice quality is very bad (thin can quality) .

I was wondering what other users are experiencing when using the Versa 4 phone capabilities.

@Gend02 @Talahthas Thanks for getting back and sharing those details.

I'd say it depends. I mean, probably for me the current volume is fine, but I can totally understand that it is not for you. I can hear pretty well with my Versa 3 which is the Fitbit device I have now. No inconveniences at all.

However, if you feel like yours is not doing as expected, please feel free to get back in touch with our Support Team so they can continue assisting you as you already have a ticket open with them.

We hope your issue is solved soon.

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @Gend02!

I'm experiencing this too with my Versa 4. And technically speaking, this is absolutely to be expected considering how thin Versa 4 is.

Hi there, @Gend02. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear you're having inconveniences with your Versa 4 when answering your calls. I understand how important it is to make this feature work properly.

I was experiencing something similar with my Versa 3 when I recently got it, but I did try the following (@Talahthas you can try it too if you haven't done so yet):

  1. On the phone, turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  2. Restart the Fitbit. For instructions, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  3. Remove Versa 4 Controls from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone.
  4. Set up on-wrist calls again. For instructions, see How do I set up on-wrist calls on my Fitbit device?

Note that Versa 4 Controls might be listed as “Not Connected” in the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone. When you receive a phone call, the controls automatically reconnect. This feature requires more frequent charging.

If the above doesn't work, please try those steps once again, but this time in the following order:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Remove Versa 4 Controls from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Fitbit device.
  • Set up on-wrist calls again. For instructions, see How do I set up on-wrist calls on my Fitbit device?
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

Hope this does the trick for you guys!

Thanks for your tipps, @MarreFitbit.
It's not that I don't understand the person with whom I talk while phoning. The sound from my Versa 4 simply isn't comparable to the hands-free volume of my Pixel which isn't surprising give the size.

Maria,

Thanks for the great advice.  I opened a call with Fitbit support and they even had me re-initialize my device.

This helped a  little but the voice quality is still poor at best and if I don't have the watch against my ear I can't hear the caller at all.

What I am trying to determine is if this is normal?  If this is the best I can expect then I will disable this functionality.
