I just started using the versa 4 because my versa 2 died. I am unable to change my run settings. I open the activity mode tab run, and it starts to run before I can swipe down to change the settings. I really just want to operate in manual mode; I do not want a vibration on my wrist unless I get a text message. Any advice?

Don't start from shortcuts tile but from Exercise app. Either by pressing button and selecting Exercise or selecting All on execise shortcut tile. Then select Run and it won't start automatically.

Hello @CassF and welcome to the Community. Navigating the Versa 4 is soooooo different from the Versa 2 that any confusion is understandable. @t.parker's information is correct. Fitbit introduced the screen tiles and they take some getting used to. This version of the Versa 4 manual is easy to navigate and might help you with the additional differences.

@LZeeW in this case it's just bad design of that particular tile. Notice that it exposes the settings icon but doesn't give user time to swipe it up. Hence confusion. I had the same problem first time when exercise started automatically but then I tried to start it from the Exercise app instead. Most of users after seeing that tile assume it's the only way to start exercise and don't try to open Exercise app. The proper way the tile should work is that once a user taps the exercise, the exercise app opens and waits until user confirms the selection 🙂

This is all explained in the online interactive user manual linked found below, or the downloadable manual
Basically, after you have the options set, then we can use the quick start.

Yeah, I got the concept now. But why then showing Settings at all (which are not really accessible) in the Quick Start Excercise shortcut? Just get rid off this function here, if there is no purpose to use it in this mode. That’s what I mean with a bad UX.

You can prevent the exercise from starting immediately by pressing the button on your Versa 4 right after selecting the exercise type
