Hi - I can't setup Google Wallet on my Versa 4, and I get an error in the Fitbit app as follows: "Something went wrong. Error connecting to Versa 4 Make sure it is close by and turned on".
If it helps, here are more details about my setup:
I just got a new Versa 4, never setup Wallet before on the watch.
I have Google Wallet working on my Android 11 device which syncs with the Versa 4.
I don't have sync issues with my Fitbit Versa 4.
I get the same error when I try to set up device lock on the watch.
My watch, phone and fitbit app are up to date.
Fitbit support wasn't able to diagnose the issue.
Does anyone know why this is happening or have ideas on what I can do to resolve?

I think the following is the issue.
The Fitbit Versa 4 does not get WearOS, the smartwatch platform of its owner Google.
I'm now using a fossil Gen 6 watch which has WearOS and Google wallet works perfectly after setting it up on my Oppo X3 Pro.

I have the same issue. Google wallet will not sync with my versa 4. I reported it months ago. Support were very disappointing. **ahem** did not understand the issue. They never got back to help me resolve the issue. One person just said it doesn't work and they have no idea if it will ever be fixed. Very poor. I will not be recommending Fitbit to anyone.

Fitbit, owned by Google who also own the Android OS but you need the competition, an iPhone, to set up Google wallet on your fitbit.
There is no software update in the pipeline so this may and should be the end of Fitbit.
In a world where alternatives are plenty. I've changed to a fossil Gen 6 and that still has WearOS which works with NatWest and Google wallet perfectly

There must be some consumer protection site that this issue can be raised on. Crazy how this can just be ignored.

post number 4 shows what we are dealing with unfortunately.
Fitbit app in the play store is shown to be 'being enhanced by the developer of wearOS,' and of course that's an issue because Google have pulled the WearOS software from their latest watches

I had the same problem but works after moving Fitbit account to Google account. Easy to do in Fitbit app.

It's because it's NOT Google Wallet. It's a rebadged Fitbit Pay. I know this because Barclays Bank Works with Google Wallet but does not or never has worked with Fitbit Pay. I had to make a Starling Bank account to use with Fitbit pay on my Versa 3 Which works on the Versa 4. What a coincidence. This watch is a big fail and wish I'd stuck with my Versa 3 even with it's haptic main button. I also get the same error message when I tried to add my Barclay's cards to fitbit pay on the Versa 3 as on the Versa 4 with Google Wallet. 2+2=4 not rocket science is it ?

I Have the same problem. Since march I cannot connect versa 4 and cards. For long I had versa 2 and everything was working fine. When getting versa 4 nothing works.
On versa 4 it’s Google pay instead of fit bit pay. I use the Same type of card (Mastercard), same bank, same phone.

The payments were one of the main reasons I bought the Fitbit 4. I am not sure if they are even trying to fix the issue. Terrible customer support. I will never buy one again.

I moved to Google account immediately.
It still doesn't work.

Should have read this before buying.
I have 2 cards from 2 different banks which work perfectly on my Android phone, and on a Samsung Watch with Google Wallet app.
Somehow I assumed it should work on a Versa 4 because they claimed it supports Google Wallet.
Anyway I returned my Versa 4. No huge loss in the end, but I'm not buying anything from Fitbit again until I'm certain they fixed payment issues.

I agree with ( colioco ) %100. Google may have purchased FITBIT just for it's user base with the intention of moving them to their smart watch and putting very little effort in the FITBIT brand. The whole FITBIT experience is not as polished as the Apple watch. Even Apple's Android experience works better than Google's go figure.
