Hi - I can't setup Google Wallet on my Versa 4, and I get an error in the Fitbit app as follows: "Something went wrong. Error connecting to Versa 4 Make sure it is close by and turned on".
If it helps, here are more details about my setup:
I just got a new Versa 4, never setup Wallet before on the watch.
I have Google Wallet working on my Android 11 device which syncs with the Versa 4.
I don't have sync issues with my Fitbit Versa 4.
I get the same error when I try to set up device lock on the watch.
My watch, phone and fitbit app are up to date.
Fitbit support wasn't able to diagnose the issue.
Does anyone know why this is happening or have ideas on what I can do to resolve?

Was told to wait for an update, but even after 2 app updates I still haven't been able to add the card to my wallet.
Same error message...

Google owns android and yet you need an iPhone to set up Google pay on a Fitbit. How embarrassing for the company.

Nice one 👍I bought mine used off eBay for £55 so can't return it. I'm pleased I didn't pay full price for a watch that is falsely advertised 🤗

I like the Fitbit a lot. I have 30 days to return.
Google got back to me, it is possible the Fitbit versuon doesn't support Google Wallet. My account is fine, just that its not added to the Fitbit.

Fitbit versa 4 does support the Google wallet but you can only set it up initially using an iPhone

The statement "you can only set it up initially using an iPhone" is %100 ( INCORRECT )!!!
I have a single ( Versa 4 ) and have successfully set it up from both ANDROID and IOS. My beef with the smartphone app is that from ANDROID, I can load as many cards as I want but from IOS if I load more than one card, only the card which has been marked as default will be displayed on the ( Versa 4 ), every card is visible if I set this up from ANDROID.
I only purchased the ( Versa 4 ) as an alternative for riding the trains in Tokyo using the ( SUICA ) card since my employer %95 subsidized it's purchase as part of their health plan. The primary device is an ( Apple Watch ) which works flawlessly. In the future I will never purchase another neutered Fitbit product and will stick to Apple if I need a smart watch. The only saving feature of the ( Versa 4 ) is the battery life since I only use it for time and contactless payments.

Hi Bruce, did you set Google pay up using the Android initially? Or the iPhone first?
Also, what android phone do you have?
I'm trying to work out why so many of us are struggling and being told to wait for app updates.
I'm also seeing if your setup offers a work-around
Cheers mate. ,👍

Same here with a Poco X3 NFC. The workaround with an iPhone didn't work either.
In addition since one day I cannot open the Wallet in the Fitbit app. It opens up for a second and then I'm back in the overview screen of the watch.
Uninstall and reinstall even with a reboot of the phone and the watch did not work.
Does anyone know, if there is an update planned in the near future? It's quite annoying...

I've had enough. After waiting for so long for a fix to this wallet issue I have sold my versa 4 and bought a Fossil Gen 6 off eBay. Within 20 mins the watch it all updated, set up and works perfectly with my android phone.
I've also tap and paid which worked fine.
Never again Fitbit!

Ffs
Fitbit should be sued.
I bought the Versa 4 for my Dad for the Google Wallet bit
Seeing the same issue
He has a Samsung S21 Ultra
And has the same error when setting up Google Wallet on the Fitbit Versa 4
How is this allowed?

I did get it to work without any iPhone involvement in any way. The only issue I had is that some cards that could be added on the phone's Wallet app could not be added to the watch. It depends on bank policy.
The problems with Wallet seem to be phone-specific (that is, Android setup) issues. My guess is it will get fixed before long, so maybe wait it out. But maybe Google needs to shift some of its resources/engineers from its browser/search/AI to more mundane things like Wallet. And the mundane things are not where most of Google's $ is coming from at the moment.

If it is phone-specific issue why it happeneds with Google Pixel phones?
