Can't set up Google wallet on my Fitbit

I got a versa 4 for my birthday back in November. I can't seem to set up the pay feature (which is the only reason I got this fitbit). When I try to sync my google wallet it either says contact your bank or Something went wrong... 

I am able to use Google pay on a web browser so I don't believe it's a problem with my bank. I have logged out of the app and deleted the app and re-installed it. It's still not working and hasnt been working since November. Any help would be appreciated.

I am using a iPhone 14 if that makes a difference.

Only seems to work properly if you add Fitbit to your Google account
