Can't set up my Versa 4 with my iPhone 12

Purchased a Versa 4 two days ago, could not get it to sync on my iPhone 12,made several calls to Fitbit cs and they were not able to resolve the situation. I did a factory reset on the watch and upgraded the software on my phone to no avail. I thought the watch was defective so I returned it.I purchased a second watch yesterday with the same results.
can you offer any help?

I also have an iphone 12mini and i never receive messages and have to sync all the time and still dont... : yes i have all the right notifications and boxes check as well
