I have set my Versa 4 to bright (which is what I want all the time) and the screen lights up the way I want it for a brief moment and then automatically goes back to dim. I don't have the best eyesight, and the dim screen is just not going to work for me most of the time. How do I set my watch to bright all the time? What am I missing?

Hi @michaeldlee77 and warm welcome to the forums.
I appreciate your message regarding the display and brightness on your Versa 4.
Could you please read the following help article and check the quick settings ? How do I navigate my Fitbit device?

Thank you for your reply. However, nothing seems to work. The screen continues to go dim no matter what settings I choose. I currently have it set to max brightness and the screen stays dim. I can't find any documentation on how to fix this.

Hi @michaeldlee77 ! Thank you for your message.
I'm really sorry to hear that the issue still persists. I am grateful for the troubleshooting efforts as well.
Could you please try to check if there is a firmware update available for your Versa 4 ? How do I update my Fitbit device?

It's been a bug on this watch since it came out and has never been fixed and probably never will.
It's annoying isn't it.

I wish I had done my research before buying the watch. That's an absolute, major disappointment for me and it would have been a deal breaker. I can't believe in 2025, they will not fix this bug. I have tried everything.

My Versa 4's firmware just updated and I was hopeful it had been fixed but it has not 😞

HI @Simonsimps - unless it has gone backwards that firmware should work, as it was already fixed in a prior version. Can you elaborate on what exactly is not working as it may be a different issue.

I lift the watch. Slide down for settings, bottom right I tap Brightness. It then does one of two things.
1. As I tap through dim, normal, max it changes to that setting for a split second and then goes dim again. Or
2. I tap on brightness and it stays on the setting I left it on until the screen times out, then I lift my wrist again and it's back on dim no matter if I had set it to Normal or Max.
Thank you.

I am having the exact same issue.

@Simonsimps@michaeldlee77 - did you try a pull down on the watch face to get to Quick Settings and ensure all icons are off to avoid watch Settings being overridden, then adjust the brightness to suit.

@Simonsimps- if you don't have any other icons on [sleep or DND] in quick settings it should work correctly.
There remains a factory reset option [in watch Settings] which can be risky and means a new setup - see Factory reset tips

Apparently this is a common bug in Versa 4. This isn't a one off.

Hi @michaeldlee77 and @Simonsimps !
Thank you for your messages and feedback.
I'm sorry to hear that the situation is still the same.
Could you please confirm if the sleep mode is disabled ? In the quick settings, swipe down from the clock face on your watch, and then check the sleep tile (moon icon), it should be on a gray scale (turned off). If this tile has a turquoise tone, it means it's turned ON. The sleep mode turns the screen dim.

Yes, sleep mode is disabled.
@Guy_ I don't really want to do another factory reset as I have tried it a few times and it never worked and like you say, you have redo all your settings.

I had to go to another watch. It is very sad that the Versa 4 is so buggy. The screen staying dim all the time, regardless of the settings, is deal breaker. Would love to know if anyone has found a fix for this yet.
