Fitbit Ace LTE - Floor count

Can anyone explain why the floor count on Fitbit has gone wild? I am accruing several floors whilst asleep, while cleaning my teeth (stationary and using the hand without the Fitbit on it!) If I climb one staircase it logs 7… or 8…. or well, pick a number. I really want this to stop! Please help!

Hi @JoanneK1962, Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!

Let me help you with the step count of your Fitbit Ace LTE.

Your Ace LTE counts floors with the help of an altimeter sensor that detects when you go up in elevation. Your device uses changes in barometric pressure combined with the steps you take to calculate floors climbed.

If your device counts floors while sleeping or being static, it may be because the altimeter detects pressure changes, but other types of pressure changes, such as a gust of wind, a weather change, or opening a door. They can occasionally cause your device to register extra floors.

Clean your device regularly in order to avoid this kind of false data. For more info about these topics see Why does my Fitbit device count extra floors? and  Fitbit Product Care

Hello @JoanneK1962

I moved your post from the Ace LTE product help forum, which is a device for children, to the Versa 4 product help forum. This was based on your 2025 post where you mentioned the Versa 4 is the Fitbit device that you have.
