Fitbit Versa 4 and other Fitbits are magnetic

Recently purchased a Versa 4 for a present. When I went to charge it , it has a magnetic charger which made me question where the magnet was , the Fitbit or the charger. The issue is the Fitbit is for someone with a pacemaker. As pacemakers can be damaged due to magnets this is a huge deal.

Called Fitbit and learned that there is a magnet in the Fitbit too. I learned that all of the newer ones contain magnets. The only one that doesn’t is the Versa 2, which is an older model.

I am posting here as it is important that people are aware. When doing research apparently more and more devices contain magnets and these magnets may affect medical devices, such as pacemakers. While the magnets may or may not affect a particular device, it is important to be aware as devices such as Fitbits are designed be worn 24/7, even while sleeping. I know this is something we didn’t think about.

Hi @quantkhil - thanks for bringing this up.

It is true that the watch is magnetic on the underneath more than on the face. Meaning it attracts objects more easily from the underneath.

As the underneath is in contact with the arm and if you place your arm over your pacemaker there is quite a distance between the watch and the pacemaker.

Meaning that the magnetic strength may be quite weak. It would seem getting the watch face near the pacemaker would be more difficult.

Even so as each pacemaker might have different construction/specifications you are right to get it checked out professionally.

Thanks again for posting the issue.
