The last two times I've used my Fitbit was for a 5k race and to walk a specific trail that I know is also 3.2 miles. Both times my watch said I only went 2 miles. What should I do? I get being a little off but a while mile is silly.

@monkk , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message
Try wearing the Versa 4 a bit looser or tighter.
I would also customize the stride length. Yours might be a bit different from the standard. Here you'll find the instructions
Can I change my stride length in my Fitbit account?

Yes. stride length matters a lot especially between running and walking. To determine your stride length for each go about 0.25 miles, hopefully on a flat surface. See how many steps you take and then multiply by 4 to determine your strides per mile. It won't be perfect but it will be a lot closer. You may have to change it in the app depending on whether you are running or walking.
