Having issues with Fitbit Tracker

I'm posting this here because Google decided to lock the Blaze forums so that no new posts can be made and no new replies can be posted either. Why they would do this in the first place is puzzling; perhaps they didn't want to deal with all the issues people are facing with their older, "unsupported" models? Hmmm.

I was gifted an old Fitbit Blaze and I'd like to give it a try, but like many others on the Blaze forums (again, before they were mysteriously and abruptly locked by Google) I'm unable to do this. I can connect it to the app, however, that's about where the honeymoon ends.

The tracker sits on the setup screen, and the app says that even though it's connected, it "requires" an update. When I go to apply this update, the app reports that it has indeed been applied successfully, but then reports the same issue, stating that the watch requires the same update.

As a result, it's stuck in an endless loop, unable to move past the setup screen, and unable to ever be updated.

Now, I understand that this is old hardware, honestly, I do, but that shouldn't make it okay for Google to break a once perfectly functional device. Nobody is asking them to support it with indefinite updates, but it certainly isn't okay to then break those devices simply because they wish for you to go out and buy their latest and greatest model.

So, that being said, does anyone have a fix for all these people, myself included?

Hi @LucasMertens  had the Blaze myself and loved it, but it was retired early in 2018. Legacy devices only receive updates for two years after they are discontinued, so it's well past time to be able to get update. click to read about Legacy Device Policy

Hi @Odyssey13, I completely agree, don't get me wrong; I don't expect devices to be maintained with updates past the stated two year mark - two years is a perfectly acceptable amount of time for a manufacturer to issue updates, but that isn't the problem here.

The problem is that I'm unable to apply a previously available update because the app will not function correctly as it once did, thus, I am unable to get my device past the setup screen and use it, even with an older, outdated operating system/firmware. I'm also unable to use older versions of the Fitbit app in order to apply the update, as the update API is not local.

I do understand what you're saying, and I agree with you, but I think that's a bit of a different issue to the one I am describing.
