How do I turn off the auto vibration while walking on my Versa 4?

How can I switch off the vibration for autodetected walking? It is super annoying... My watch just keeps buzzing away throughout my whole walk, and I can't even see what time it is because it has "autodetected a walk" and won't show me any other screen unless I press to finish the walk. I have already googled it, but it is not possible to switch off autodetect exercise in my online account. It is switched on, but there is no option to switch off. Plus, I would like for it to autodetect, just bloody stop buzzing the whole way through!!! And let me see the time/steps/what ever else I want to see on my watch. Just like my versa 3 used to do... Why has it changed *face palm*

@AmandaAndrade   Fitbit made a change in the Exercise app in the upgrade from the Versa 3 to the 4.  I don't know if you are a runner, but the Versa 3 has a Run Detect feature in its Run shortcut.  Fitbit added this feature to the Walk and the Bike exercise shortcuts.  You post sounds like you are experiencing the Walk Detect.  Here's how to turn it off.

  • Short press the button and open your Exercise app
  • Choose Walk
  • Swipe up on the tiny "^" at the bottom of the screen
  • Look for Walk Detect and toggle it to Off
  • Take the opportunity to see the different ways to customize the Walk shortcut
  • I despise AZM notifications and turn them off wherever possible

Walk Detect is different from and exists in addition to SmartTrack, the auto recognition feature you are used to using.

One thing I will add to this explanation.  Instead of short pressing the walk button in step 1, press the "All" button just below the shortcut buttons on the Start Exercise watch screen. Then choose Walk from the list and proceed turning off the auto-detect. If you try to do it by just pressing the walk shortcut, the walk timer will start before you have time to scroll down the list of choices.

Hello @Drodden and welcome to the Community.  You're right.  There are two paths to get to the Exercise app so you can make these changes and I knew that when I posted my response.  I was trying to keep it simple.  Those three icons are Quick Start shortcuts.  You can't make any changes from the Quick Start shortcuts.

I think what Amanda wanted to know is how to disable the VIBRATION at the start of the exercise detection...  Not disable the detection itself.

My Versa 3 broke and I purchased a Versa 4 and I also get that annoying behavior.  With my Versa 3, the exercises were starting/ending without any notification.  Now the only way I can stop that vibration is to also disable the exercises detection, which lead to zero exercise minute in the weekly summary.

I can't believe that we cannot only disable the vibration option...

I don't want to turn off the detection.... only the very annoying vibrations. I want to be able to track my walks, but I dont want my wrist to be constantly buzzing. I don't even react to message, call or inactivity buzzes anymore, coz I just assume it's another random "walk detected" buzz. It's making the watch quite useless.

I know, I feel your pain.  On the top of the annoying vibration, when the exercise is auto-detected, I am stuck in the exercise "menu" on the watch.  No way to get back to the regular screen with the time and the steps total.

I miss my Versa 3 so much now...  I thought the 4 would be an upgrade but it's not.

Thank you! I thought I was going crazy when I upgraded from 3 to 4 and this happened. This is exactly what I wanted - if I want to have stats on my wrist I’ll start an exercise, I don’t need the watch to do it for me. But I didn’t want to turn off auto detection completely, so I can measure my exercise levels. Your explanation worked perfectly.
