How do you set real time during exercise mode?

I just switched over from an Apple Watch to a Versa 4 and the lack of time is driving me insane. I walk my dogs before work and like to check the time to make sure I won’t be late. It’s a major inconvenience to toggle through a few selections because I have my hands full with dog leashes. Is it possible to set the time to the main screen when exercise mode is on? I read a similar post for the Sense but it doesn’t appear that I can select time as a permanent feature on the Versa 4. I understand the Fitbit is a fitness tracker but convenient access to time is a basic necessity for any adult who has to manage school, work, and family. If there’s a way, please let me know.

Hello @toothygreen and welcome to the Community.  My honest recommendation for a busy person with both hands full is don't use the Exercise app at all and let Fitbit's auto-recognition feature (SmartTrack) track your walk.  It doesn't give a GPS map of your walk, but if you do a similar route every day, do you really need a map of it every day?  I use SmartTrack for all my daily walks and runs because I know the approximate distance I go.  The Exercise details don't give a distance, but that is part of the programming.  Your distance is added to your daily distance total.

That being said, you can see the current time on the screen when in the Exercise mode and you can customize the screen.  The screen show a top, middle, and bottom stat.

  • You can scroll through several real time stats on the middle screen.  The current time is one of those stats.  It will have the largest font of the three stats.
  • You can customize the top and bottom stats and change them from their default settings.  When you choose the Walk shortcut, you will see a tiny "^" on the bottom of the screen.  Swipe up to go to the settings for that exercise.  One of the options is Show Stats.  You can make the current time the top or the bottom, but the font is smaller.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, @LZeeW! From other explanations from other users, I thought the exercise mode had to be engaged to get to the setting. Totally not the case. It took me a while to find the settings. It kept starting the exercise and when I was finally able to see the Setting options, it appeared to be a selection you have to press. Didn’t realize I needed to scroll further. I was able to change the time display per your instructions. Thanks so much!
