My Versa 4 vs Apple Watch SE review

I got a Versa 4 at xmas from my wife. While it’s not a true smartwatch, I love it way way more than my Apple Watch SE. The thing is as much as I LOVE Apple products, I absolutely hate the Apple Watch: It’s hard to navigate at times, complications sometimes do not update, battery life sucks, and watch faces are ugly as sin. It’s probably the worst Apple product I have owned, but hey that’s just me lots of people love the Apple Watch, albeit i think it’s more due to its trendiness. The Versa 4 IMHO is more appealing even if it’s not as feature rich as Apple. The things I love about the Versa is that it’s so much lighter and more comfortable to wear. I wear it almost 24/7. The Apple Watch is heavier and denser. It’s noticeable on my wrist. I often take off my Apple Watch after a few hours of wear. I love the Versa watch faces. There are hundreds of faces including paid third party faces - many of which are absolutely lovely, customizable, and provide better information at a glance. It’s enough variety to make it feel like a new watch each and every time compared to Apple which feels stale by comparison. The Versa is very intuitive to use, I find I can navigate it much quicker than my Apple Watch. It’s literally just swipe left or right whereas with Apple you have things all over the place . Battery life is fantastic. It’s nice not to have to think about charging it every night. I love the fitness / health tracking of Fitbit and the app which puts everything into a one single place. With Apple you have to navigate between the health app which is a mess or the dated looking dark fitness app. To me Apple rings don’t make any practical sense: The stand right which means you just get up for one second ? At least Fitbit asks you to walk for a bit each hour. The calorie ring which does not take into account the calories the body naturally burns throughout the day and during sleep. It’s an odd combo. I find with Fitbit you have to work harder to achieve your goals. It’s easier to close Apple rings even without resorting to any workouts during the day. I often closed my rings during a typical work day. I love how good Fitbit is at automatically detecting a workout. I had a dance party with my twin girls and it listed it as cardio, I mowed my lawn and it registered it as a walk. I love how the Fitbit app lets you enter the foods you eat to track calories. Now of course people will argue about which device is better, but I wore both side by side overnight and on a light run around my hood and I can tell you for the most part they produced the same heart rate results, similar sleep stages, and GPS tracking. That being said if I am being honest, I would still give a nod to Fitbit for accuracy over my Apple Watch. Fitbit just seems more consistent and the scores align very closely with how I feel. There were some oddities in several measurements from them time to time with Apple that puzzled me. My wife loves her Apple Watch and does not use it for health tracking, but even she admits the numbers seem odd at times. Fitbit made a very appealing product. Yeah it’s not exactly a smartwatch, but it’s a very highly quality fitness / health tracker that doubles as a very attractive watch. At the end of the day a watch is only as good as the faces it has if you ask me and this is where Apple looses the race, of course YMMV.

I agree, I love my Versa 4. I almost always have my phone at my side and don't need a watch that tries to duplicate so much of what a phone does. And battery life is super important. I also like the comfort.  I agree that weight and flatness are important. Things that are nice or essential for me, like fitness tracking, are working great. And it has the most critical smartwatch type features, other than music control which would be really nice. But it seems Google pulled a lot of Fitbit resources (that is, people) to develop and support Pixel watches instead, because since the takeover, especially recently, things have been going downhill which is really sad. So I am going to enjoy my Fitbit for as long as I can.
