Hi @Deputydog - as a first step try holding the watch button for 10 seconds till it blanks or vibrates and wait for the logo to appear and for it to start.

If still an issue can you provide more information.

If you have chosen a watch face but not given it permission to access information then it won't show.

One way to check is to swipe the watch face left and tap on steps. There you will see the actual data.
