So 2.5 years ago my wife got me a charge 4 and quite honestly it was a great gift. Helped me keep on top of steps etc so was generally good for my health and I've used it ever since. Sadly after a walk in heavy rain the screen has started to fail. Secretly my wife bought me a versa 4 for xmas and once I said about the screen she said I could have it early. However, I have a habit of checking out technology reviews, reddit etc before I use anything new in case it's not worth the money paid which seems the case with the versa 4. Is this the case or are people making it out to be worse than it is? My first thought was to return it and choose something else (my wife suggested this - I'm not being ungrateful but I don't like her wasting her money) but thought I'd ask here before making any decisions.

I preordered the Versa 4 and due to shipping delays got it a few days later than most people. In that time I saw all of the negative reviews and comments on this forum so held off on opening it until actual technology reviews were released. I couldn’t find one review that said it was better than the Versa 3, in fact all said that it was a step backward. So I have returned it and will shortly be ordering a Versa 3, not having a physical button was the reason I was waiting for the Versa 4. But from reviews and potential ways forward for the Fitbit brand, it looks like the google watch will be the smart watch and Fitbit simple activity trackers.

Just a heads up on the versa 3 HR monitoring is not accurate. I have had Fitbit on my wrist for 7-8 years and the latest round of new device’s are not very good for someone who like to track there fitness. I sent my versa 3 back one month after receiving it. Good luck.

Reading things here you are listening to an echo chamber where folks come when they have problems with a device and are frustrated. Yes, there are features missing from the Sense 2 and Versa 4 many wish were there. And yes, both are products that meet the needs of many, but not all, especially when there is a belief in what the features of those devices will have at first product ship.
We do not know if or when Fitbit may/will add the missing features. If the missing features are important to you, then the V4 and S2 are likely not for you. If you use them like many of us as a step, sleep, exercise, and heart rate tracker, then they will quite likely be what you need.
At this time we do not factually know what Fitbit or Google are planning for their wearable product line. I suggest basing your decision on whether the product is for you on your own experiences.

I do not care about all missing features All care about accuracy so if you not care about that please buy the watch. I will echo it every change I get.

I too was very happy with the Charge 4 and have had the Versa 4 for one month now and am very disappointed. It disconnects from my phone frequently making the text notifications and find my phone features useless. My sister has the Versa 3 and that one works much better in terms of connecting to the phone and reliability in my opinion.

Agreed, Versa 4 is not nearly as good as the 3. I assumed it would have all the great features from the 3 and then some more. Another case of what happens when you assume. I should know by now.

The Versa 4 is not ten most accurate smartwatch, but up to some extent is okay for people just starting or have exercise in their routine. Again not the best for extreme marathon runners. If you seem to get a Versa 3, take not it has a haptic button and that was some drawback the Versa 3 had, unlike the 4, which has a physical button. If you are still yet not satisfied, do check out the sense 2.

Do keep in mind that the Sense 2 is about $70 more expensive because of the additional sensors, such as ECG, EDA, cEDA, (cEDA being the extra ring on the back) and some additional features.
