No third party app support on Versa 4 and Sense 2

Frustrated and disappointed is an understatement. I bought the Versa 4 to replace my Versa 3 as I wanted an upgrade after a year, I wish I kept the Versa 3! It is so disappointing to have absolutely no third party application support on this Versa 4 watch. You would think the newer FitBit watches would have the same - if not more - features than the previous watch of the Versa / Sense watches, but clearly not. With the Versa 3 watch, I was able to change songs on Spotify without having to reach for my phone, but with the Versa 4 I cannot do this due to the lack of no third party apps.

It really does feel like I have actually downgraded my FitBit. As I said, you would think you would have more features with the newer watches, but there is actually less. It is really a deal breaker at this point because I have seen lots of people on the FitBit community also complaining about this. I really like FitBit watches and I have been very loyal to them throughout the years of owning them, but it really does feel like a letdown to have no third party application support. Many people are returning their Versa 4 / Sense 2 watches because of this. These newer FitBits could be groundbreaking if they had third party app support, I know a lot of other users would agree with me on this.

I'm hoping some of the software developers of these newer FitBit models listen and take my words and other FitBit users words into consideration, and release a software update to support these beloved applications.

Hi @liamoxo - like many you suffer the same disappointment, however this platform does not support Apps, only system functions written by Fitbit and is unlikely to change.

If you are unhappy with the watch Fitbit have a 45 day refund policy if bought direct from them or from an authorised shop perhaps, and some stores offer a 14 to 30 day one.

You may be able to pick up a new Versa 3 in the stores at a cheaper price and regain what you are used to.

Amen! When I had the ability to have one for myself I thought I bought the most advanced and the best on the market. Why did I think that? Because it was the latest and the most expensive. I am upset, angry and I feel like I've been swindled. It was $249 for goodness sakes! And I have absolutely no control over installing any apps. Why would I choose a Fitbit that does not allow music while I work out?

Exactly! I decided to buy another Versa 3 instead of this 4. The Versa 4 is not a smart watch at all, It's more of a fitness tracker - I found out the hard way! Trying to sell my Versa 4 but no one wants it (understandably as there is no music control or third party apps)

I could have written this review myself. Not happy after first 24 hours and this was first problem to arise.

Upgrades are always welcome, Google. Easy fix as you already own the functionality. Look forward to a pushed upgrade soon.

Hi @KateBT  - if there are further updates they are unlikely to reverse Google's design decision to not support 3rd party apps.

Btw make sure to read answers in this topic fully, it may help.

I think we've all been swindled and bought into the BS that this Fitbit was somehow better than the previous versions - it's not! I'm over it with Fitbit and this is my last one.

Yeah, for this reason specifically, I will never buy a Fitbit again. They keep dropping support for all the best things about their watches.

This whole thing is a serious legal false advertising issue and I am beyond disgusted.

The sense 2 and versa 4 were advertised with "hundreds of apps" and they have none!!!! Its not a smartwatch at all.

its just a tracker with a few clock faces!
I only kept my Sense 2 because customer support told me that 3rd party apps were eventually going to be available.

Otherwise it would have gone straight back to the store.

5 months later and now apparently apps are being removed from older models too!!!

It seems Google is purposely stripping Fitbit of its features to force people to buy their pixel watch.

Shame on Google!

Considering the constant complaints about this, you'd think some compromise would have been made by now!

I feel like i completely wasted money on the most expensive fitbit (excluding pixel) and got no features.

It is a massive downgrade from previous models.

We have all been scammed and something NEEDS to be done!!!!!

Yes!!!! I was so excited I just upgraded to the smart watch from the Charge 5 so I could have all the cool apps I saw but little did I know NONE are compatible with Versa 4. I am soooo disappointed to say the least. They need to get on this!!

Your standard response in every thread is really irritating and simplistic, as if not having the 3rd party apps was completely normal and acceptable.

People don't look for community forums before byuing a device, at most we search for reviews on a retailer website. However if you already know a previous product and you trust the brand, you may buy the "upgrade" without much research.

People will not always have time to return a device.

People are not only from the US.

People have the right to feel deceived if a new and more expensive product offers less benefits than its predecessor.

Fitbit should have made it extremely clear that Versa 4 was not an upgrade to Versa 3.

Fitbit made a business decision without any consideration for the loyal customers.

Fitbit has to address this issue either returning the apps or adding a disclaimer to prevent new buyers to fall on the same trap.

Exactly, I read online reviews and even compared Apple and Galaxy vs Fitbit. Decided on Fitbit due to cost. I got my Versa 4 as a Christmas gift. Activated it in March, and I believe the person bought it in November. I wish I could return it but I'm stuck like the majority of people in this forum. One thing I know for certain, I'm not getting another Fitbit!!!
