Ever since I got my Fitbit versa 4 it keeps saying in the notifications on the app that they are not working and need a phone restart have tried turning the notifications off restarting my phone and it is ok for about 4 hours but then comes up with that message can anyone please help me

Hi @Victoriacats - if your phone and watch stop being connected you can't get notifications.
This can be an issue with the new app requiring a restart of the watch and phone.
To be sure it's not a watch setting, pull down on the watch face to get to Quick Settings and turn off all the icons
