I just got my first Fitbit and I got the Versa 4 because it’s the newest model and it was on sale for the holidays. I tried to download some third party apps like Spotify music control and found basically all apps are only available on the older models of the Versa. I love having the Fitbit to track my calories and my sleep but beyond that it’s not really much of a smart watch. Should I get the Versa 2 or 3 instead?

Hi @lentichin - quite probably, but note Fitbit are phasing out all on watch music by the end of the month. If you are interested especially in accurate HR the Versa 2 would likely do better, but you have the option of other brands too.
If you are unhappy with the watch, Fitbit have a 45 day refund policy if bought direct from them or from an authorised shop perhaps, and some stores offer a 14 to 30 day one.

Hello @lentichin and welcome to the Community. I want to clarify one thing about Fitbit's relationship with Spotify. Fitbit has Spotify - Connect & Control, an app that lets you control another device (phone, speakers) that is playing your music. Fitbit has never supported offline Spotify play.
I have hand's on experience with both the Versa 2 and 3. Heart rate accuracy is a major complaint between the V2/3. The differences are most noticeable at higher heart rates. This might not affect you if you are more of a casual athlete.
I prefer the Versa 3 over the 2. I like the navigation and its Exercise app. The V3 does have its issues, too. Your V4 has a real button, same as the V2. The V3 has an indented haptic button and pressing it can be awkward.
If a specific app is a deal breaker, please browse the Gallery and make sure that app is available for that model. For example, the TRX app is available on the V2, but not the V3.
Possibly less important is the availability of other accessory bands. There is a wider selection of Fitbit brand bands for the V3.
It's clear that the V4 doesn't meet your needs. Do a little more homework, but I hope this helps.
