Skin temperature isn't working on my Versa 4

I have been wearing my Fitbit versa 4 for 3 nights and it’s put my skin temperature as 0.0°c. This feature is the main reason why I upgraded from my previous Fitbit so I’m disappointed it’s not working. I have done the whole log out, update app, re start phone, log back into app and re sync and not changed. I also wear it correctly, everything else works it’s just the skin temperature part. How can this be sorted please?

Hi @Tmflax - skin temperature is a deviation from a baseline not a specific temperature.

Under "Skin temperature" in Health Metrics there is "learn more" which gives more information. A bit mroe information can be found here.

How can Fitbit help me track my temperature?

It's probably not possible on this watch to enter core temperature currently.

1)  Note this is your skin temp during sleep, not your internal temp so don't count on it to show if you have a fever.  It's not clear really what use this is, just another piece of data for you to use as you see fit.

2)  It doesn't show skin temp.  It show variation from your baseline skin temp.  And it takes at least 3 days to set your baseline temp, so you should not expect to see any results yet anyway.

3)  This information and more is all from clicking on "skin temperature" in the phone app.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thanks for your reply. I know it’s not your actual temperature but my first reading (I have already been wearing for 3 nights) is 0.0 so isn’t a baseline reading?

Best Answer

@Tmflax- it could be you are not getting a reading. Posting a photo might help.

Thank you for your reply. I know it’s not your core temperature.

I know it works it from a baseline but it’s saying my baseline is 0.0. I have been wearing it for 3 nights and says my baseline is 0.0. It didn’t say anything before today as hadn’t been wearing long enough

i’m just confused why it’s set my baseline as 0.0

@Tmflax- the base line is 0. Measurement is how much more or less, it is from the baseline. The actual baseline is unknown.

I can’t see how to add a picture here but when I had been wearing less than 3 nights so no reading it said “no reading available”. After night 3 it says my baseline is 0.0 not that there’s no reading. I’m just very confused as I really wanted this part of my watch to work or I would have stuck with my old one

@Gch_  ahhhhh so after my first night it should be 0.0? I wish it made that clear as in the info but it doesn’t mention that at all

May be this example will help - it shows skin temperature +0.4 degrees above the baseline.

Basically it shows just either above or below 0 which is the graph baseline, which means hotter or colder than usual

@Guy_ thank you. I see now why it had to be 0.0 as I’ve only got the one reading so far then tonight’s will go as the same or +- 0.0 depending if warmer or cooler than last night. I’m guessing for the first month or so my baseline may adjust too to be more of an average? Or will it stay as this being my baseline?

Actually Fitbit never clarified if/when/how the baseline is recalculated.

My versa 4  temperature  sensor  is not working either.I just received  it a week ago, and still  not working.

Same!....Just got my Fitbit Versa 4 last week and same as you, I have worn it every night, so much longer than the three nights it is required, and I get no reading at all. So disappointing when it's a feature that you based your purchase on.

Hi @MsMichele -  the Versa 4 specs say

" Skin temperature variation

Identifies changes in skin temperature, which can be related to activity, illness, menstrual cycle & more.

Only available in the Fitbit app and only displays variation. Not available in all markets. Not intended for medical purposes. Significant changes in ambient temperature may negatively impact skin temperature tracking."
