Sleep broken after not wearing consistently

Went on a dive trip so I took off fitbit for about 6 hours in the middle of the day, produced all sorts of issues, if you click back from today you find that this is yesterday's date, repeated syncing did not fix this for until a few days later.

No sleep data was shown, then a few days later some data shows up as a time period like 2:00pm till 10:00pm when I was mostly wearing the device.

Even a couple of days after I finished the diving the sleep data is wrong, the sleep timng was right but added sleep between 11:55am  and 7:00pm.

It's like it never considers you might not wear it all the time or undertake activities that you need to take the device off for, or for that matter switch time zones.

Is there anything that can be done to prevent this from happening, online advice claims you can edit sleep data but I see no way to do this.  Any tricks to stop it flipping out.

I have synced and restarted multiple times, it worked just fine for 9 months or so of consistently wearing it. though it regularly lost exercise sessions or parts of them.
