The GPS on my Versa 4 is not accurate

I have a Versa purchased this year and the distance and elevation is consistently inaccurate, like by many kilometers. I have looked at the results from other people having the same issue on here and it is not useful. I wait until my watch says the GPS is connected before I start my exercise. The Versa 4 has built-in GPS so it should be working without my phone, but it is consistently wrong to the point where I don't see the value in using the watch anymore. Is my watch just a dud? Can I get a replacement?

Hi @liakbrands

Unfortunately (from my own testing) the built in GPS on the Versa 4/Sense 2 is very poor. This is due to the placement of the GPS antenna. The antenna window is at the back of the device, not ideal for something that requires a clear line of sight.

The new FW update is supposed to introduce the ability to use connected GPS (using your phones GPS) which should help. Obviously this means having to keep your phone with you though.

Thanks N8teGee, hmm that's very annoying. Thanks for the intel. I got the
versa 4 so that I WOULDN'T have to carry my phone with me. Definitely not a
fan of this watch.

My Versa 4 has the same issue with poor GPS accuracy and with the Fitbit just deciding to stop my bike ride before I’m finished. I complained shortly after getting the Versa 4, but they would not refund because I was past 45 days. They sent a replacement refurbished unit, which has better battery life than the original, but GPS accuracy is still not dependable. Today for instance, I rode 48 miles, but the Versa 4 just decided I was done riding after only 36 miles.  This is my 5th Fitbit, but certainly be the last one.

Dang. I spoke with Fitbit again today and they said the same thing, no
refund after 45 days. So far no replacement, although I am trying. But
honestly, I really don't even want a Fitbit anymore. This will also be my
last one unless they do better. This much $ for a watch that doesn't work?
Nope.
