Versa 4 - Auto Exercise won't turn off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've tried turning this off in the App, but I still get auto walking popping up.  How can I turn this crap off?

So frustrating that it keeps auto detecting what I've told it to ignore!

Hi @Lazagna - did you try pressing the watch button, select Exercise and the one in question, scroll the face up and turn it off there. Same for any others.

You can have all sorts of issues with the new V4 Fitbit App which may not be syncing properly.

@Lazagna   I looked at your public profile and see that you are a long time Fitbit user.  The Versa 4 has an additional feature that is different from the auto-recognition that you control from the app (SmartTrack).  It is called Walk Detect and it turns on the Exercise app.  Here are more detailed instructions:

  • Short press the button and open the Exercise app
  • Choose Walk
  • Swipe up on the tiny "^" at the bottom of the screen
  • Look for Walk Detect and toggle it Off

Fitbit also added Bike Detect with the Versa 4.  Run Detect has been a feature since the original Versa.  Both of these are also ON by default and you need to follow the same steps to turn them off individually.

@Lazagna- After watch button press select Exercise then you many need to select Other exercises [or scroll] and then select the individual ones,

As per my message just above yours, that doesn't work.  Once  short press the button, tap exercise, the little running guy comes up and then my screen goes blank.

I also just tried turning the watch off and back on again, but it didn't work!

@Lazagna - ok, did you hold the button for 10 seconds till it vibrates and the logo appears and wait for it to start?

If the screen blanks just touch the screen immediately.it will come on, or press the button.

Your watch may be corrupted, but first set the display timeout to 15s or more to make it easier, and pull down on the watch face to get to Quick Settings and turn off all the icons to make things simple.

If you swipe the watch face right you will get to start exercise with 3 icons, press the button to get back to the clock face again and then short press to get to the list of apps, click on settings and see if this responds correctly.

Repeat and choose Exercise from the list and take a photo of what you see to post here.

If you have the latest Fitbit App a factory reset may simply make your watch unusable, so try to avoid that step.

Treid all that, when screen goes blank, tapping the screen does nothing.  I tried setting the timeout to 20 seconds, still goes blank and no response to touch.

I can get into settings on the watch, so that works as desired.  I didn't take a photo of what I see because it's nothing, I SHOULD take a video, but I just saw a factory reset from the menu on the watch, so decided to try that, right before I read your message... so let's see how that goes...  Always a chance to use the warranty feature if it dies....

Thanks@Lazagna - hopefully you will be able to set it up again but many users have reported they can't get through that stage, so it is good that it is still under warranty. If you do get it it setup Exercise should then work properly.

@Lazagna- that is weird, which version of the Fitbit App do you have, be careful before making any changes there that might make actually things worse.

In the Fitbit app make sure that the Versa 4 is the only device attached to the account, if your phone is attached there may be a conflict. Even so remove it and re add it and sync.

You could also try Logout of the Fitbit App and swipe off the active window and in Android clear the storage cache and force stop it and then restart the phone.

Make sure there are no other devices running the Fitbit App switched on or other watches.

Restart the watch again

Login and wait for any pair, link or Fixit prompts and sync. When it's successfully synced check again.

@Lazagna   Have you ever used the Exercise app on your Versa 4?  Has it ever successfully connected?  I searched for other posts about the Exercise app crashing.  I found a post about the Versa 3 Exercise app crashing, but nothing on the Versa 4 or Sense 2.  The other user said that the screen went back to the clock face, not blank.

I think you should contact Support for more help.
