Versa 4 - GPS vibration on walk or run

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have had to turn off GPS on all my walks and runs as the vibration is so frustrating. I got the Fitbit versa 4 for GPS reasons and it's totally unusable and it just vibrates constantly. It is not heart rate notifications all other are turned off. Is anyone else having trouble with this

I am having the exact same issue. My watch is still in warranty and I contacted support. I had to reach out like 5 times because each time they would get me to do obvious troubleshooting steps (turn it off then on) and send me on my way without actually helping. It seriously ruins your run when you can't focus on anything but your watch buzzing like crazy every step you take. They offered me a replacement but expected me to send in my faulty product and wait two weeks for a replacement. I explained that going two weeks without would totally throw off my stats and they didn't care. Not that long ago Fitbit wouldn't even require you to send back the old product and they certainly wouldn't leave you without one. Now that Google took over, all the features are being discontinued and the customer service sucks. Sorry to hear you're in the same situation. I'll never buy from fitbit again.

Same problem here. So annoying. Even lost some exersize-data. I am really disappointed. Do they say if it is hardware related or is it just the processing? The latter should be fixable....

When I contacted support they had me do factory resets and a bunch of other troubleshooting and even asked me to take pictures of my fitbit with the flashing gps sign to prove it was happening. Then they offered to replace the hardware. From the number of posts reporting this issue, I don't think a replacement would solve anything for me anyway. If it wasn't hardware I don't know why they would offer a replacement.

So I've actually had my GPS turned off on all exercise for about a month and I turned it on last night as I wanted to track a walk without my phone and touch wood it actually didn't do anything. No unnecessary vibrations or reconnection. I'm hoping this lasts and I can keep GPS on

  • Does anyone know why you are receiving vibrations during a GPS recorded activity?
  • Do these vibrations happen only when using the built in GPS, and not the phone's GPS (Which has a much larger antenna)
  • Does the displayed map ago any straight lines that your walk didn't take.
  • I think the vibration happens when the watch looses a GPS lock

  • Yes, I know in my case why I am receiving vibrations. It is when the versa4 looses or regains the gps position.
  • It does not happen when I use the connected gps from the phone. I've tested this in my last run. But if the antenna in the versa is too small for proper gps positioning then the feature should not be sold.
  • The map does show a line that is not straight. A lot of jumps to left ant right. So much that the measured distance of the run seems longer. Although my average speed seems to be higher I still know that it is due to the unstable gps position measurement and has nothing to do with my increased running capabilities.
  • I also think that the watch looses gps lock, but I would like it to be fixed by Fitbit

Just want to add I have had the same issue where mine does not have straight lines and has even been so bad to show I ran through a large pond which obviously I did not and totally skewed the stats for my run as well.

Yes you are totally correct. The phones GPS will still record the walk if
it's turned off on the watch. And yes that watch seems to have an issue
keeping GOS signal and it will vibrate when it looses signal and vibrate
when it connects again
