I have an Apple Watch but love Fitbits 24/7 HR and auto workout recognition. I used to own a Pebble, then Pebble Time. I have had various Apple Watches but the battery life is an issue. I tried a Versa 3, but replaced it with a Versa 4. I prefer the non button on the Versa 3 (which worked really well if you held both side and squeezed).
I feel Google have restricted functionality so that sale’s don’t impact the pixel Watch.
The Versa 4 needs some updates:
Bad
- bug? Skin temp doesn’t appear in the app in the Skin temp section
- no apps (except Medical ID and find your phone)
- Google Wallet doesn’t work with any card that works with Google Wallet on Android (a bit annoying, either it’s Google Wallet/Pay or it isn’t. I don’t just want Fitbit Pay rebranded)
- Google maps AWOL
- Google own Fitbit, Google is on the box, Google Wallet, Google maps added/to be added but no Google Assistant (only Alexa). Seems a strange choice?
- A bit laggy now and then
- speaker weak, especially compared to the Apple Watch
Good
- Great interface (ala Pixel Watch)
- usual Fitbit features (24/7 HR and Auto exercise recognition)
- good screen
- battery life is great
How do you find the Versa 4?

I think you nailed it. Even things like lack of customization for backgrounds using your phone gallery. Even my $20 Wyze Watch could do that without paying for it. I really like the Versa 4, but it is one of the dumbest smartwatches I've ever had. Outside of the fitness aspect, don't expect much more and you'll be fine.
