Everytime I want to start an exercise on the versa 4, the exercise automatically starts the timer.
On my Charge 5, I had the option of hitting the Play button and then it would start when I'm ready.
With the Versa 4, the timer circle starts immediately after I select the exercise. This is annoying as all heck. Help.
Moderator Edit: Clarified subject

Note: No idea why this was moved to a topic. I assume a moderator decided to do so or there is a "glitch" in the forum software.
Same here. I just start it, hit pause, then restart when ready. Agree it would be nice for it to work the same way as before. A good feature request to add to the proper forum.

Yeah that works, but if I want to change any options before starting, say, "manual laps" or "auto laps" or whatever, I have no chance of changing that. The timer begins a few seconds after exercise launch. UGH!

This behaviour is strange indeed, I have seen it on Sense 2. You need to open Exercise app (press button, find the app) and select activity there. Then you will have a chance to change settings of activity.

I've figured out the workaround to the exercise auto starting bug.
After your exercise has started, just end the exercise.
Scroll to the bottom after you've stopped, and you should see 2 options "start new" and "done"
Choose "start new"
Then choose the exercise you wish and there you'll see the exercise option is waiting for you to hit play. From here you can change parameters for your workout and then begin when you're ready.
The downside is that you'll have logged that initial exercise in your app. Just go ahead and long press the session and delete it.
Hope this helps and I hope Fitbit comes around to fixing this issue. It's really annoying.

Was this issue ever resolved? I'm having the same problem on my newly purchased Versa 4.

@girlfixer it's not an issue. It's like that by design. Use Exercise app or from the shortcut tile select All and then select exercise you want to track. It's unlikely this behaviour will be changed. Just another dumb UX design that users will have to live with.

Hi there, @girlfixer and @t.parker.
@girlfixer Thanks for joining this thread and letting me know about your Versa 4. Just to clarify, let me share that there are different ways to start your exercise, you can press the side button once, tap the Exercise app and select your activity. Another option is to swipe left or right until you see the Start exercise screen which allows you to select the activity that you'll perform. Because this second method is a shortcut, your device will assume that you don't want to adjust settings and start tracking your activity right away.
This and more information about the Exercise app can be found in this help article.
