Versa 4 calories burnt much less than Charge 4 and previous Fitbits

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have been using Fitbit for many years now. I have had the charge 2, Versa 2, and charge 4 which all burn similar calories when I do my weights workouts.

I recently though purchased a Versa 4, and the tracker shows my calories burned when doing weights is less than half than my previous Fitbits. The tracker is fully updated aswell. Is there any reason for this? and is anyone else finding this?

Hi @geshlam2008, welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!

Let me help you with your Calories burned data which seem inaccurate.

Your Versa 4 combines your basal metabolic rate (BMR and your activity data to estimate your calories burned. In addition, your heart-rate data is also included, especially to estimate calories burned during exercise. The number you see on your Fitbit device is your total calories burned for the day.

This being said, can you confirme that your Versa 4 is accurately tracking your heart rate ?

Secondly, Do you have more that one Fitbit device paired to your account ? If you have more than a Fitbit device paired to your account and you are not using this one, it may happen that calories counted by your current Versa 4 and your other device are mixed.

I hope this info will be helpful. Have a nice day!

Hi David, thanks for your reply!

It seems to be tracking my heart rate correctly. Another thing I noticed is 'walk workouts' burn a similar amout of calories as my previous Fitbits, just with weights it burns much less. I have also tried selecting "Strength Training" and "Weight Lifting" and they have the same issue.

Also, when I connected my Versa 4 to my phone, it seemed to have replaced my charge 4, and doesn't look like other Fitbits are connected.

Hi @geshlam2008, thank you for your response and for the screenshot.

One thing to point out is that our trackers are better when tracking step-based activities, due to the nature of the accelerometer. In addition, newer devices tend to have more accurate algorithms.

Does your daily Calorie burn goes accordingly with what you expect? I mean, your total Calorie burn is congruent? How different is the result at the end of the day?

I hope this information helps!

Hi @DavidFitbit

The daily calories burnt is a couple hundred less than usual on days I do a weights workout, days I don't lift weights are as expected.

As you mentioned above, I was thinking maybe this newer Fitbit has an adjusted algorithm to weights workouts. Are you aware if there was a major change with how many calories burnt the newer Fitbit models count for weights workouts?

Hi @geshlam2008, thank you for your response.

At the moment i don't have detailed information about a major change about Calorie count. If you believe the Calories counted while doing weights are inaccurate, see if you are able to modify the activity log once it's finished. See How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities? below "How do I edit or delete an exercise or activity in the Fitbit app?". I appreciate your time in this task.

I wish you a happy holiday season!
