Have you tried what @Rich_Laue has recommended? Are you an Android or iOS user?
If by any chance you're using an iOS device, may I know if the text messages you're not receiving are iMessages? If so, I can relate to this since I also have a similar issue, but I tried toggling the iMessage setting; general > Messages > iMessage and verified the "Show Previews" was on "Always". If this steps don't work for you, I suggest taking a look at the help article Troubleshooting quick tips for iPhones.
