• Hi @Cariberry1985 do you have notifications setup? 
• Your phone is not set for Do not disturb.. If so, there is a setting in the fitbit app to allow notifications to still show on the watch. 
• Have you restarted the phone. This is usually what works for me. 
• And restarted the Versa 4

Have you tried what @Rich_Laue has recommended? Are you an Android or iOS user?

If by any chance you're using an iOS device, may I know if the text messages you're not receiving are iMessages? If so, I can relate to this since I also have a similar issue, but I tried toggling the iMessage setting; general > Messages > iMessage and verified the "Show Previews" was on "Always".
