Versa 4 is not tracking my distance accurately

Walked 4km today. Fitbit Versa 4 reports the exercise correctly. 740 steps apparently. I cannot trust this device anymore as too often it fails to record/report correct stats. GPS rarely works well. Today, my walk was in the ocean despite having clear unobstructed view of the sky. Need to find a fitness watch that works. Fitbit has gone downhill badly.

I have had this issue for several months now.  It started in May, then sometime in July, and it seemed fixed for a few weeks. It seemed to track my distance accurately, but then it returned to not counting it correctly.  The app shows distance correctly, but the watch does not show it, even when I have synced it.  For example, I have 9,370 steps and 3.56 miles on my app today.  My watch shows the same steps, and all other information matches, but the watch shows I've gone 0.53 miles. GRR.
