When using the stairmaster or elliptical I find that I’m usually 10 minutes into the exercise before the hr shows the actual rate. I’ll be breathing hard and the machine I’m on could be showing an hr in the 140’s but my versa 4 is showing a rate in the 80’s or 90’s during the first 5 to ten minutes

Hi there, @BobCoJr. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 4 is not tracking your heart rate data accurately. I understand where your concern is coming from. I will do my best to help you with this!
As a first approach, please keep in mind that several factors can affect heart rate, including air temperature, stress level, alcohol or caffeine intake, immune response to illness, and medication use.
Exercising in cold weather can make it more difficult for your device to track your heart rate, as environmental conditions can affect skin perfusion (the amount of blood that flows through your skin). Review our tips in How do I improve the accuracy of a heart-rate reading?
For more information, please see What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?
Was my post helpful? Give it a thumbs up to show your appreciation! Of course, if this was the answer you were looking for, don't forget to make it the Best Answer! Als...

I have this issue too and the moderator 's response is not helpful. I work out with two heart rate monitors and one shows that I'm in peak heart rate zone and my Fitbit says I'm not even in the fat burn zone. I have the same issue during the beginning of my workouts as well where it seems that the fitbit takes a long time to pick up on my heart rate. It's very frustrating and seems like a device issue.

Same issue as well, and that's gone across all Fitbit products I've owned. I've never found the heart rate monitor to be reliably accurate especially during exercise at the gym in a controlled temperature environment. No troubleshooting recommendations seem to be of any help.

Same as, I regularly attend spin classes and on versa 2 was burning between 400/500 calories on spin mode and since versa 4 burning just over 200. I did an indoor circuits class (45 mins) the other day where I could barely breath and was showing my heart rate in fat burning zone and after 45 mins I burnt 89 calories!!!!

Mine does that as well, however the heart rate is recorded correctly in the graph when finished. I tested it against a polar chest strap and the result was nearly identical. I think the issue is the watch itself lags, otherwise the recorded data and rate is accurate.
