Versa 4 isn't tracking my steps and floors accurately

I’m new with Fitbit. I went to the stair mill setup and selected. I did over 4000 steps and climbed 200 floors. Fitbit says 3 floors and 1700 steps. The data is not even close. It’s almost 2023 with a new product. Before I bash Fitbit is there any correction or user error?

If you hold to the machine during exercise the number of steps may be undercounted. The floors will use barometric pressure and that will not be picked if you don't change the elevation for real. Despite using stair climber you're not going up hence no floors granted. The amount of floors you've been granted may be cause by changes in the air pressure of local area (air conditioned space?).

Hi, I am new to Fitbit also. I bought mine and have only had it 2 days. I mainly bought it for the step tracker and thought it would be easier to read the larger screen and so I opted for the Versa 4 over one of their smaller trackers. Today, I was up to 7,700 steps and then at the end of the night it said I only had 6,300. I went online and found a few people that had this problem and the only recommendation was to do a reset or try turning it off and on again. If that didn't work then contact them again. Needless to say, I am not messing with all of the problem solving and returning it to the store I bought it from since I am still within the return time frame. It's too much money to have something not work right away and be expected to fix it yourself.
