Versa 4 phone icon with a line through it keeps appearing

Hi, ever since updating my versa 4 the other day I keep having a popup of the symbol of a phone with a slash through it appearing on my watch and have not been getting all my phone notifications on my watch. This happens literally seconds after I sync it if I lock my phone or close the app. I have tried shutting down my fitbit, disconnecting/ removing the watch from my phone and fitbit app, turning on and off my phones bluetooth and powering off my phone and re-pairing the watch and the popup is still appearing. Is this a software issue? How can I fix it?

Means no bluetooth connection to phone - could be out of bluetooth range from phone.

I have checked and confirmed that my phones bluetooth is on and my phone says it is connected to the watch. this happens literally as soon as i close the app on my phone or lock my phone even if it is in my pocket.

You closed the app - there you have it.  If you prefer to turn off the status indicators altogether, see above.

This hasnt been an issue previously, and I shouldnt have to have my phone open and running the app 24/7 to use my watch. This has only been an issue since this update. Further, your tone comes off quite condescending. Customer support should support the customers, not tear us down.

A)   I am not Customer Support, just a Fitbit user like you, freely volunteering my own time to try to help other users, although I'm sorry if you perceive not appropriately in this case.

B)  Yes, the Status Indicators were added in an update.  If you don't like them, you are free to turn them off, though the display should go off on its own in a couple of seconds.

C) If you don't like the way the Status Indicators work or were implemented, you can leave your suggestions in the Product Feedback forum.

Mine has been doing this, too. The app is open and my phone is often in my hand when it happens.

Hi, I've had this problem on and off for years - I would just randomly stop getting text notifications on my Versa 4, even though nothing had changed.  Now I also get the little "phone with a slash through it" when it happens so at least I know right away.  I've tried everything like you listed, but the only thing that works for me is a factory reset.  It's a real pain, but works for me.  I started getting the "phone" icon 3 days ago and just spent 30 minutes doing the reset and that has fixed the problem.

I'm an iPhone user and began seeing the "not connected to phone" icon consistently after the most recent update (which I installed on 6/18/25).  Based on threads in the Community as well as elsewhere, this update expects the Fitbit app to remain open on the iPhone.  I verified this by opening the Fitbit app, kept it open for a couple hours while doing chores around the house, and the icon never showed up.  I closed out the Fitbit app, and even through my Bluetooth settings clearly show the Versa is connected, I see the "not connected to phone icon" within a few seconds.  So.... we have two choices if that notification is too annoying:  1) Leave the Fitbit app open on the phone, or 2) Disable notifications in the watch settings.  I'm curious if this behavior is unique to iPhones (I suspect it is), but haven't found a solid answer.

Does it drain the battery faster if we leave the app open?

I have been having the same issue with my android. I didn't understand until I read these posts why I quit reliably receiving notifications.  Now my watch has stopped holding a charge......started having to charge way more frequently a week or so ago. Now will not hold charge for even 20 hours. Frustrated.

I’ve noticed that I have to charge more since the last update as well
