@JewelsG33.48 is your phone Android or iOS. I'm on Android.

Let's check and see if we need to remove the phone from your fitbit app..

First we will open the Fitbit app and tap in the top left

On the next page. Do you see a last sync under the phone.

If you see add phone, your phone is not connected.

If you do see a last sync, tap the phone Icon

Now tap disconnect device.

I believe this is why you are getting a lot of steps.

If so, then once you do the above steps let us know

To prevent happening again:

On phone app from Today screen, tap battery icon at top left to go to connected devices screen, remove your phone as a fitbit device.

Too late to fix.

Hi, thanks for your response. I've disconnected it. I'm hoping a
reconnect maybe after rebooting phone will get it working again?

Phone connected as a Fitbit device is just to have it use your phone to count steps when you are not wearing your Fitbit.  That has nothing to do with the normal use of your phone that everyone needs to sync their data.  If you are counting on your phone to count steps, then disregard what I said above, but I believe it have a bug.  Everyone who I have come across getting tens of thousand steps added all at once seems to have their phone connected a a fitbit device, often without even realizing it.  Again that is not needed for normal everyday usage of the phone app and syncing.  I wish I could think of fitbit's term for using the phone to count steps.  Again if you are relying on that, then forget my advise.

Hi @JewelsG33.48 — @JohnnyRow ’s response is spot-on. I would add that there are some repetitive things we do that can add extra steps - for example, I play guitar with my fitbit on the same arm I strum with - and it counts the strums as steps! I know you probably don’t strum a guitar 107,000 a day, but it’s something else to think about.

Yeah no guitar playing over here. I was just out shopping but nothing
crazy.

Used to be called MobileTrack, for taking steps from phone (which I think seems to have a massive bug in it) but seems they might have dropped the term.

I only have versa synced to fitbit app nothing else added to it for mobile tracking.  Everything else I saw says once it cycles through a sleep it should be fine...if not it's a bigger problem.

I really don't think we are communicating clearly on this, but if you are satisfied so am I.

Yep, android. Phone not connected to app. So far so good today on
tracking. Hoping it's figured itself out with reboot & disconnect. Wished
they could reset yesterday or at least adjust. I look like a walking
Rockstar on fitness challenge app setup through work. Had to explain to
coworkers no I didn't walk 45 miles yesterday. HaHaha
