Versa 4 - showing red X and Fitbit logo

My Fitbit versa 4 won't start anymore. If I want to reset it by pressing the button on the side, the Fitbit logo appears and flashes blue briefly + vibrates. However, after that there is a red cross and then nothing more. What can I do?

Hi @Katrienik - did you try

Remove both Bluetooth entries from the phone (in case they are corrupted), needs only be done once per app version.

Remove the watch from the account and logout of the Fitbit App and swipe off the active window and in Android clear the storage cache and force stop it and then restart the phone.

Make sure there are no other devices running the Fitbit App switched on, or other watches that can interfere in the syncing process.

Restart the watch by holding the button for 10 seconds till it vibrates and the logo appears and wait for it to start and place on charge.

Login and setup the watch again to add it on your account and use replace.

If the watch is not faulty it may become operational again.

Hi there @Katrienik! Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for letting us know about the situation you're having with your Versa 4.

Hello @Guy_, thank you so much for the help!

I would also recommend this:

  • Sync your device with the Fitbit app. From the Today tab, tap the devices icon > Versa 4 > Sync Now.
  • If Sync Now doesn’t show an update banner, tap the devices icon > Versa 4 > Gallery. The app should show a popup message.
  • If the firmware update banner doesn't show, press and hold the side button for 10 seconds until the Fitbit logo appears on the screen, then release the button.

If the issue persists:

  • Press and hold the device's button for about 8 seconds until the screen turns off and vibrates.
  • When you feel the vibration, release the button and immediately press and hold the button again.
  • Wait for the Fitbit logo to appear. Once the logo disappears, release the button, then press and hold the button again.
  • When you feel the vibration, release the button, then wait for the watch to complete the factory reset.
  • Try to set up your device again.
