When my Versa 4 first arrived, it took a few attempts to get it set up, but I was able to. I switched to trying an Inspire 3 briefly, but went back to the Versa 4.
However, now it will not update. I've tried every step I can find. I have reset the Versa 4, forgotten all previous entries in Bluetooth, restarted my phone many, many times.
No matter what I do, if I try to set it up, the Versa 4 will connect and the big checkmark and "Connected" screen stay on the watch. The app says that it's updating the watch, but the watch doesn't progress to a screen that indicates that it's updating, which it did when I first connected it.
The update always eventually times out and I'm left trying all over again. I have been at this for hours and tried every permutation possible of restarting things and forgetting Bluetooth etc.
When I hold the button on the watch for 15 seconds, the fitbit symbol flashes for a bit and then a big red X comes up. This happens whether the watch has been disconnected from the phone or not.
So far this watch has been a nightmare to try and manage.
ETA: it managed to get past the checkmark but is still unable to update and now the watch says it cannot connect even though it connected a minute ago.
---
this is what the app and watch keep getting stuck on now, the app used to have that same screen, but the watch would be stuck on the checkmark and "Connected!" screen, but now the moment the update tries to begin, the watch says "trying to connect." It will briefly flash a screen on the watch that indicates that the software is updating, but in less than a second always goes back to the "trying to connect" screen.
----
Additional info: I tried connecting it to another phone, different brand of phone, and the same problem happened. The watch briefly flashed a screen that indicated that it would update, but then immediately went to the "trying to connect" screen and failed to update.
So it's not a problem with my phone.

Hi @Xellercin - there seems to be a problem with the new Fitbit App as others have the same problem. It may be related to the app stopping syncing which also is a problem.
Removing all traces of the watch from the app and phone and doing a button factory reset of the watch and starting from scratch may be a way to resolve it.
Did you know if you are unhappy with the watch Fitbit have a 45 day refund policy or possibly authorised dealers too, some stores provide 14 to 30 day refunds.

Best AnswerYeah, I tried all of that. I've done every combo of resetting, clearing cache, uninstalling then app, reinstalling the app, restarting the phone, trying with another phone. I literally spent 4+ hours on this yesterday systematically working through every possible variant.
It's just not working, I'm returning it.
Also, I have no problem connecting my Inspire 3, my Versa 2, the Charge 6 I tried out but didn't like, my spouse's Versa 2, and an Inspire 2 that I tried out and didn't like.
The problem is the Versa 4.
I have exactly the same! So annoying. I tried all the troubleshooting steps (disconnect bluetooth, hard reset, removed versa 4 from my fitbit app, reinstalled the fitbit app on my phone, tried it with a different phone). But it keeps ‘connecting’ instead of updating. I have the same as in your photos. Not sure what to do next?
Best AnswerApparently the next step is to just return it 😞
Useless **ahem**
^oh come on! They're censoring an acronym of a swear word phrase?? That seems a little excessive.
Best AnswerI'm in the same boat, doing a factory reset actually made it worse because now it won't do anything until it updates and it won't update, jumps from 1 to 78% then says trying to connect. Tried getting an older version of the app, they don't support it. Tried connecting it to my pc, they don't support a desktop app anymore. Maybe I can manually do the firmware update myself? Not supported. Can I just use the **ahem** watch as a step counter and hear rate tracker and screw the updates? Not supported.
Best AnswerI'm stuck with exactly the same issue: after the factory reset and when trying to update, it jumps to 78% and then it says trying to connect... I can't believe so many people are having the same issue and Fitbit is doing NOTHING to help!!!
Best AnswerUnfortunately i was facing the same issue after factory reseting my brand new fitbit versa 4.
I tried all troubleshooting methods, contacted fitbit team, but nothing was helpful.
Then i thought of replacing it, so i stopped using it for three days.
On the fourth day, as a last chance i tried to connect it. Fortunately it worked for me 😊 and versa 4 is perfectly fine right now.
Best AnswerFingers crossed it doesn't do it again. That's why I returned mine, even if I could get it working, I wouldn't be able to trust it if is ever had to reset it.
