Hi there, @MissKristine. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 4 is still not syncing with your phone. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

As our last resort, I'd recommend performing a factory reset on your Versa 4. Important: Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

With the above being said, please press and hold the button for about 8 seconds until the screen turns off and vibrates. When you feel the vibration, release the button, then immediately press and hold the button again. Wait for the Fitbit logo to appear, then as soon as the logo disappears, release the button, then press and hold the button again. When you feel the vibration, release the button, then wait for the watch to complete the factory reset.

I did a reset through settings. It updated.   Then my ovine would find versa 4 and a versa 4 for calls but would not connect with either.   The versa 4 continues to say I need the app.  The call one just would connect

@MissKristine Thanks for getting back and for the details provided.

If you're getting this message "To start download the Fitbit app", please try the following steps in the order listed:

  • Check if by any chance your phone's Bluetooth shows the Versa 4 as a connected device. If so, please unpair/remove it.
  • Remove the Versa 4 from your Fitbit account.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Versa 4 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 4.

If you can't get started with your Versa 4, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

If you continue having syncing difficulties after linking your Fitbit device, please see Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

@MissKristine As a first approach, please keep in mind that Versa 4 Controls might be listed as “Not Connected” in the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone. When you receive a phone call, the controls automatically reconnect.

In addition to what you've tried, please try the following:

If you continue having issues, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. On the phone, turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  2. Restart the Fitbit device once gain. For instructions, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  3. Remove Versa 4 Controls from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone.
  4. Set up on-wrist calls again. For instructions, see How do I set up on-wrist calls on my Fitbit device?
